Waste... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 14, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Beginner friendly course. Baskets are in good shape.

Cons:

Too many obstacles (playground, shelter, etc.) in the way, especially if the park is busy.

Other Thoughts:

Play is not recommended when there has been ample precipitation because it does leave standing water around a few of the holes. It seems as if the course was redone and that appears why #6 points to #7.

Not worth the time... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 30, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Besides being a beginner friendly course, not much. The signs were good...with the exception of hole 6.

Cons:

The holes are just dropped in around the park equipment that is already there, making it impossible to safely play holes that are near something that is already in use.

The course seems to retain a lot of water. It hasn't rained yet this spring, yet pretty much all of the snow has been melted for 2 weeks, yet hole 2's pin, three's tee, and four's tee were pretty swampy.

Hole 6's sign points you to hole 7's pin.

This is definitely just a pitch and putt course.

Other Thoughts:

I believe the park was redone by the time I played it. I'm not sure what other effects it had on the course, but that is the cause for hole 6's confusion I believe.

Of the nine, at least half run the risk of being unplayable. If you aren't a local to Huxley, this is definitely not a place to travel to. The only reason we played it was because we were on our way from Ankeny's course back to Ames, and I would still consider it a wasted 20 minutes.

Needs a redesign 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 15, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Baskets are in good repair

Cons:

This course is just a hodge-podge of throws where it seemed like a hole could go in amongst the ball diamonds, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, etc... If any one of those facilities is being used, that's at least one hole that can't be played at that time.

Other Thoughts:

The park is going to be expanded and disc golf is supposedly part of the master plan. Hopefully, there will be a reasonable amount of room for 9 holes.
