-A good amount of foot traffic in a few places on the course. Keep an eye out and wait till pedestrians are clear before throwing.
-Can get muddy in the wintertime, bring rags and waterproof shoes/boots.

Good family fun. Mostly open, lightly wooded. State Park so kept up well. Easy to get around.

Can get wet and muddy so be prepared if you go after a rain. Not super difficult, only 1 mando.

Will need a parking pass to get in.

Good course for the beginning player or for a small family. There is a semi-decent range of distances to throw and an occasional bend in the fairway. Most of the course consists of straight 200ft shots with the random bunch of trees to throw at as well. Each tee has a pad to shoot from, though each of which could benefit from a new rubber mat. For the locals this course would make a solid lunch time excursion.

There isn't a whole lot of range in the types of throws one gets to make. It all depends on what you are looking for in a course. If you are making the trip from Portland, I might caution against it.

This course is barely playable in the winter time without waders or rain boots. The course is setup on the flood plain and the soils are apt not to drain that well. The first five pins criss-cross a sloppy meadow and the remaining ten fairways have similar issues with mud - though not quite as bad as the first couple.

Good course for beginners, moderate distance, open and flat, easily navigated. Fun for an easy day when you don't wanna stress yourself, it's not a bad course.

Ground can be marshy and muddy, not a very challenging course.

It's alright, it wasn't anything exciting by any means but it's good for beginners and testing new discs or techniques.

This course is flat so that it is easy for all levels of people to go out and play here. There is plenty of parking and many BBQs that can be used to cook some dogs or buggers between rounds. The big Oak trees make this just a special place to play. They offer great shade in the summer and crazy amount of lines to the baskets. You will always find new lines that you want to try and make to try and make it closer to the basket.

The rubber tee pads can get very slick in the muddle rainy winter that the NW gets. Also the flat fields are not completely flat and when it rains there are lots of puddles/mini lakes all over.

None of the baskets are way out there and require multiple shots to make it to the baskets. It is mostly drive, approach, then putt, or just Drive then putt. That second one is much more common for most Am and above players.

Big guns might find this course way to short for them.

There are many other things that can be done at this park. You could even camp here and play for many days. There are two other parks in the area so it is very easy to get in two or three parks in a day.

This is a course that anyone would be comfortable playing at. The holes were fairly easy to follow, and a couple holes provided some minor challenges. It would also be a great place to bring your kids too.
The scenery is also nice. I have only been here in the summer and the fall, and the Oak trees are beautiful. One last bonus would be the lack of traffic/players. I have only played here three times, but it was always quiet.

This is a course to visit if you have some time and are headed up or down Interstate 5 through the Willamette Valley. If you are looking for an epic course to play, I would not suggest making a special trip to this course. It's an average course-it does not have the character to quite break 3 stars. Again, if you are in the area and have an hour, it's certainly worth playing.

Nice quiet out of the way setting, large trees make up the bulk of the obstacles.

Discatcher baskets catch well.
Excellent beginners park, not daunting but still providing some serious challenge for new players.
Usually not too crowded.

No elevation changes.
No real opportunity for more advanced players to air out big drives.
Very easy to score very low once you know the course.
Rubber tee pads don't work so well in the Portland area downpour.
Course gets very soggy in the winter.

Champoeg is a very nice simple course, it's kept up fairly well for a course of its general difficulty making it a great beginner course, easy to navigate and challenging while not being daunting for a first time player. Experienced players will most likely find Champoeg exciting if played once or twice a year, resistance to scoring is very low. One nice aspect that makes this course more attractive to someone in Portland is its proximity to the two Newberg courses, Hoover and Ewing Young, playing the three makes a nice 36 hole day. For someone travelling through Portland I would reccomend skipping Champoeg in favor of other courses like Pier Park or Milo Mciver, but if you're living in Portland it's worth a day trip in the summer.

This is a fun little course. I enjoy going when I don't have the time to play a long 18 holes. I can bang out two rounds here in a little over an hour. The course is nothing fancy, but it's a fun. It's a good course to bring the wife/gf/little kids, because it's not too hard and there is not a lot of walking. My wife can actually make it through a round without getting bored, so that's a plus in my book! Baskets could use some help, but they're alright....
