A Course To Go With Your Starter Pack 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 31, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

• Easy to find
• Baskets are in good shape
• All grass

Cons:

• No tees
• No signs
• No water or restrooms
• The fence (more on this below)

Other Thoughts:

Tips:
Park next to the basketball courts and you'll see #1 straight across them near the fence for the baseball field

Random Thoughts:
This course is clearly a part of the outdoor activities for the kids. There are 9 baskets that circle all the fields in a clockwise direction. There are no tees or signs that we could find, but we did see some suspicious worn areas on the ground near where tees would probably be. The only real debate is where to start on #1. We chose a spot in front of the snack bar building to the right. From there we would just play the hole and then take a few steps and re-tee for the next one. With that strategy, you'll get a mix of 200-250' shots that are either mostly straight or slight turns. What was a nice surprise is that the fairways and baskets are close enough to trees or fences that you can't just fire and forget. You'll need a small amount of finesse. You can even turn #9 into a short par 4. I would actually consider this a great place to work on your game as you can probably make any shot you want to work on out here due to where the baskets are placed.

Now the rub. When we got there (on a Saturday), the gate was open. So we strolled on in. There was a groundskeeper watering the field that didn't pay us any mind. The trouble is, when he was done, he left and locked the gate behind him. So you guessed it, we had to climb the fence to get out. In hindsight, I'm not sure that we weren't trespassing, as we drove around after and couldn't find a way in. Maybe someone knows?

Bottom Line:
This a great spot to work on your game or perhaps build up your game. Yes, a couple fences are close in spots but it's not like you'll lose your disc forever. You'll just have to climb a fence. No problem!

There Are 9 Baskets Set Around The Ball Fields At Christa McAulife Middle School! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 29, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Discatchers baskets that circle the fields here are set behind and on the ball fields. You play in a clockwise direction. There are no signs or tee pads so you can make up your tees or play basket to basket. It could be an Ace run if you make your tees all about 50' away from the baskets.

Any way you play, the lines will sometimes be pretty tight, especially for scattered-armed middle schoolers. Hole 2 & 3 have a fence on the left. Holes 4-5 & 6 all have the freeway up on their left. The other holes are open and safer. Holes 4 & 6 are both set in the line of trees that runs fine the baselines of the ball fields. # 's 7 & 8 both give you a chance to throw a little further without worrying about hysering over the fence. These holes are both wide open

This isn't really that much of a course without tees or signs or pads. I'm sure someone here has marked off some tees if some sort. If this course is ever used by middle school students, you would need some kind of tees marked.

Cons:

Good chance of disc going over the fence on 2 & 3.

Chance of losing discs in brush on freeway side. I don't know if MS kids could heave one Into the freeway here or not.

Only playable during times when school is not in session.

Other Thoughts:

This is not the greatest situation for a course. The designer did a great job with the minimal space and restraints he had. Some holes might would not be available during games. I just played a course at a middle school in Cameron Park, CA and they had a wonderful small piece of land to build their course on, Christa McAulife middle school students weren't that lucky. Either way, I hope they are getting some good from this course in P.E. Classes and maybe as an intramural activity.
