Pros:
-- Makes good use of the available land.
-- There is a practice basket between holes 9 and 1 that now has a natural tee so that you can play it as a 10th hole.
-- I was told in 2018 that a pro shop would open on site once discs arrived, but when I went in June 2019, the associate pastor who spearheaded the course was off site with the youth group, and the lady in the office knew nothing about it. That building then underwent a major renovation; there is no evidence they have ever had discs for sale.
-- There is a bathroom and a water fountain inside. The building (the church rec center) is open normal-ish business hours.
-- The Innova baskets are in good shape.
-- The concrete tee pads are good and generally long enough.
-- Trash cans and benches are not at every hole, but there are plenty scattered throughout the course.
-- There is a very nice course map by tee #1.
-- As for the holes themselves, #7 looks as if it is intended as a mando island, but the tee sign still does not say so. It also has an elevated basket. No. 8 is a tunnel shot (not overly narrow, but I missed the fairway both times on my first visit) that will punish you with severe rough on either side of the fairway. Water is in play on holes 8 and 9.
-- Most holes give you options for routes to the basket, so the course doesn't really favor any particular style (RHBH, etc.).
-- Tee signs are nice but don't have a map of the hole. Not really a big deal since you can see the basket from the tee on 8 of 9 holes. The tee signs also have bag hooks.
Cons:
-- There isn't much elevation change.
-- Holes 4 & 5 basically share a fairway (back and forth), so you might end up either watching someone throw a tee shot right at you or holding them up while you throw your approach. An overthrow to the 5 basket could land in the 6 fairway. A RHFH from #3 tee could easily land in the #4 fairway.
-- The middle part of the course is a kind of open, with just a few trees, and comes pretty close to the interstate. The walk from hole 9 to 1 (or 1 to 9, depending on where you start) is kind of long, but the 10th hole (playing to the practice basket) breaks that up nicely.
Other Thoughts:
-- The church staff is VERY nice. They are mostly new to the sport, but they are learning and want to make this a place where everyone can enjoy disc golf.
-- There is a dedicated parking lot for disc golf. No. 9 tees from that lot, so lots of people start with No. 9, then play the 10th hole, followed by 1-8. No. 8 ends right at the disc golf parking lot.
-- The small wooden bridge crossing the creek/ditch on No. 9 is was starting to rot, but it has been repaired.
