I Love You Just The Way You Are! 2+ years

Pros:

The Cushman Cruise course sits directly across the road from the monstrous Hoodsport Hills which has remained unfinished for years now. The usually active Mason County Disc Golf Club has developed Cushman Cruise with the help and some helpful financial support of the Hoodsport Recreation Commission. This partnership seems like every disc golf club's dream. However, IMO, I'm not sure of the exact direction that everyone is heading.

This almost rain forest like terrain here in the shadows of the Olympic Mountain range is so perfectly suited for a disc golf. If you've played the NAD course in Bremerton, you'll understand. Towering Douglas Fir trees, different types of ferns and all other types of rain forest plants abound.

Currently, the course is a wonderful little 9 hole recreation level course with the longest hole playing just 275'. The signs are very basic yet vandal proof tee markers showing the hole # and distance. Natural tee pads are fine, especially now in the summer. Chainstar baskets complete the picture.

I believe the holes are perfect in their simplicity and recreational challenge. Hole after hole I stepped up and commented to Bill, "This is a lovely little hole."

Bogie Bill, the self-proclaimed course warden, is and has spent a tremendous amount of hours here trimming, cleaning, hauling woodchips and generally striving for perfection.

Cons:

The course is short with fairly open lines. There is nowhere to really stretch out your arm.

It's fairly rough off the fairway. Bogie Bill is working hard to clean that up some.

Some kind of permanent tee pads are coming.

Other Thoughts:

More competitive types have all kinds of ideas and solutions in order to make this a more challenging experience. Move the baskets back. Move the tees back. Add a more challenging back nine. Personally, I would really hate to see the complexion of the course changed. There is plenty of room for nine additional holes.

With the super challenging but maybe not going to be completed Hoodsport Hills Course across the street, this could be an awesome disc golf destination someday. It will be interesting to watch the progress.

If I were rating this course for just myself, I'd for sure give it a 5.0. However, since it's just a nice little 9-hole recreational course, I'm going to go with a 3.0.
