Hide and Seek - DG Version 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 13, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

--18 holes tucked in the southern part of the city
--Long and short shots with good use of elevation to provide tricky shots.
--Benches and Trash Cans scattered every 5-ish holes
--Some long shots that definitely test your ability to turn it over and glide.

Cons:

Aside from this one complaint, honestly the course is pretty solid. But this one thing did it for me. It's been said before. The brush. It's everywhere. It's thick. It's tall. It's sharp. Playing a doubles round here is 90 minutes of disc golf, and 40 minutes of traipsing thru brush looking for discs. Aside from the first 4 holes, there really isn't a "fairway" on anything else. ...it's just a teepad, a field of nasty rough and then a basket. If not for the excellent spotting skills of who I played with, I definitely would have lost several discs, two of them straight between the tee and the basket.

Other Thoughts:

The holes themselves on a technical level are nice, but the brush kills it for me. I get looking for discs is a part of the game, but still, the brush out here is ridiculous.

As a side note, there is a planning meeting going on regarding this course in the city right now, they want to move the course and put an ice rink in this location, so hopefully the new location won't be as rough.

It's really not a bad course and the shots will definitely challenge you aside from the brush. But for me, this is one I won't willingly come back to, just because I hate spending 3-5 minutes per shot trying to find it.

Hope you like looking for your discs 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 29, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Many different types of holes/shots required.

Cons:

Plays directly next to a highway so it can be a bit noisy.

The worst part about this course is that when the weeds/shrubs are high you are going to looking for your disc a lot. On every single hole. Be prepared.

400+ Foot Hyzer Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 10, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice baskets
+Not a lot of things to get in the way of your long hyzers. This part of the park is fairly dedicated to disc golf.
+Probably isn't too crowded
+Minor elevation changes make it slightly more interesting
+It was pretty easy to navigate around this course. It is open and flows logically so it was usually easy to find the next tee and easy to see the next basket most of the time.
+Some trash cans. Not much trash on the course.

Cons:

-Very open, doesn't force any lines. It is just long shot after long shot. One of the more repetitive course that I have ever played. If I play a repetitive course, I at least want the repetition of a somewhat fun shot.
-Not much variation in distance. Most of the holes are longish but not too long.
-Disc eating brush and bushes
-Prairie dog holes that can injure you
-Poor rutted natural tees
-Desert like. Barren, windy, dusty, dry. Not really a pleasant place to hang out.

Other Thoughts:

-This park wasn't good for anything else so they threw a course on it. It wasn't good for disc golf either.
-I really wouldn't come here unless you are a course bagger or wanted to practice your long, open drives.
-Keep your eye on your discs. They can easily get lost in the brush.

BORING 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

All the baskets where there and it has some trash cans on some tees.

Cons:

This course has no obstacles. It's 18 holes of the same shot.

Other Thoughts:

If you passing through the area don't play this course. It's a waste of your time.

One of Denver's weaker courses 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 22, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Some holes have a bit of elevation in play. Baskets were in good condition. Trash cans on the course for convenient waste disposal. Fairly easy to navigate the course. Starts and ends very close to the parking lot. Disc golf only park: not impeded by other people. Easy to play for first timers, just remember to track your discs all the way to the ground as you throw them.

Cons:

Minimal to no shot variety; hole #6 is the only one that sticks out as being somewhat different than the others. #5 basket was stolen; leaving only the pole. #17 tee sign was missing. Remaining baskets were single chain DISCatchers. The dirt tee boxes were pretty rutted. The hole lengths listed on the course map are supposedly "accurate up to 1 foot", but they differed by an average of 17.5' (ranging from 2' to 62') vs. what I measured by laser. It almost seemed like perhaps extra pin positions were added later, and the tee signs & map were never updated. #14 is a blind tee shot due to the low elevation; for first timers you need to walk most of the way up the 417' fairway to see where you're supposed to throw.

Other Thoughts:

I could have guessed from looking at the course map this would be a pretty uninteresting course. The course has a very barren, wasteland feel to it. The noise from the adjacent highway was not conducive to a relaxing round of golf. After playing the first nine or ten holes I actually considered quitting I was so bored. Looking back on this course there was nothing memorable about it in a good way. I'd say it's the epitome of a "3 shot course". You make a really obvious drive and are left with a pretty obvious approach/birdie shot, after that you should have a short putt. Barring significant wind there's no excuse for taking a '4' on any hole out there. AKA the "Lighthouse" course.
