Why Pay? 2+ years drive by

Pros:

The pros of this course was that it was a very large course. Plenty of elevation change, clever/unique pin placement, and heavily wooded with young and old trees. I take my dog to every course that allows her, and she loved this place. We were the only ones on the course (ball and disc) so I let her off leash to run. So the privacy was nice.

Cons:

For a pay course, I was rather disappointed and for a few reasons. First, the course was overgrown or at least on its way. I figure if I am going to pay 5 dollars, I shouldn't be trying to find the path, or basically helping them establish a path in some areas. Much time was spent just trying to march through the knee high grass in the basin of the valley you are playing in. The map they give you is somewhat helpful, but for a pay course, it's disappointing there is any confusion. It also seems as though they are dumping construction waste (large chunks of concrete) on the sides of the playing area. The chunks then create small holes that eat your disc and are very dark... I am not keen on reaching into dark holes where biting animals may live in order to retrieve my disc. The tee pads are similar to what you would see at a driving range and have lines painted at the angle you should be throwing at, some arrows would help those like me who are truly challenged :) Another large issue with this course is the overwhelming amount of golf balls up to about hole 5. I am not a graceful person. It becomes increasingly difficult however, when there are small round balls ever where to save any kind of grace. I fell. More times then I will publicly admit. My final complaint is the amount of ticks that I pulled off me after leaving, not to mention the tick farm my dog became. Again, for a pay course, you would expect them to spring for some kind of bug prevention spraying before the season begins.

Other Thoughts:

So the summary is this; If you want to pay $5 to potentially lose discs to dark abysses, wander around a tick infested valley, through knee high grass, while taking in the lovely sights of construction waste, all the while having the ground randomly yanked from beneath you by nothing more than the power of a small white ball.... then this is the course for you!!

All I could think when I left is... Why would anyone pay $5 for something that can barely be called a course when there are a multitude of other options in the greater STL area. JB, Endicott, Quail Ridge all FAR better courses similar to this one, and best of all they are free!

Pros:

1) Challenging course mostly through heavily wooded areas.
2) Significant test of disc flight controls.
3) Not very crowded.

Cons:

1) This course was in poor shape, especially considering tey charge $5 to play.
2) Fairways has not been mowed or cleared. Had to search for basket #3 for 30min. ecause it had fallen over - baskets are the temporary type.
3) Holes very poorly marked on where the basket is or how long the hole is - make sure to use the score card or you will definitley get lost.
4) Not clear on how to navigate from hole to hole. Would help to have arrows pointing the way.

Other Thoughts:

Overall I was very disappointed in this course, especially considering it is adjacent to a very nice golf course. Good thing I was in the are to pick up some pople at Six Flags or I would have asked for my money back!
