Pros:

- Gold Level Course, but fun for most levels of ability
- Risk reward all over
- Multiple shot choices
- Huge flush to the ground astro turf tee pads
- Great signage
- Picturesque
- Great balance of holes

Cons:

- Space shared with others, you may find students on the fairways

Other Thoughts:

We were tasked with this redesign and install at the start of the 2023 and as the oldest course in the country it deserved the absolute best and we think we've achieved it!

Whilst ostensibly a par 57, to the vast majority of players it will be more like a par 62. Hole 10 is a par 5 to anyone sub 1000 rated. Holes 8, 9 and 14 and 15 whilst great Gold level par 3's also work as really good white level par 4's

Every hole requires control and positioning as well as power on the longer ones and a full range of shots will be required to score well.

Dual pads have been put in on hole 16 water carry as the back tee is very much a Gold level water carry, asking for a shaped shot through trees and carrying at least 110 meters over water.

We've added distance markers at 125m's and 75 m's from the tee on the par 4's.

Because of the expansion of the University over the last 40 years a number of issues had arisen with the old course around safety and flow. Flow is still a bit stilted through the first 2 holes and from 6 - 7 but there is good signage to take you from one to the next.

Safety has been dramatically improved with road crossings and holes playing parallel to walking paths removed (the access road next to 10 is not in use and was built purely for the construction of the library complex)

The main change Dan W the lead designer was set on was rerouting the course so there would be a dramatic and climactic set of finishing holes introducing the lake late on where it had previously been at the start of the round and finishing on a superb par 4 taking you back to the University sports complex.

The bones of the course this way were great and we fleshed out the meat of it over a three day trip earlier this year. Adam Mackrory also had input on a coupe of holes on our pre install trip.

I absolutely love the long par 3's and 4's and from hole 7 onwards you are in for one helluva ride. We have designed the holes from 8 onwards so a large gallery can easily flow and follow the action at the end of a tournament with natural amphitheatres around most of the holes.

This is a must play course for any visiting disc golfer to the UK
