It's a course... 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

9 hole course settled back in the woods of Wiese Park, on a dead end street in Allouez.

Tees were boxed in crushed gravel. For a short course, these were fine. I played immediately after some rain, and there were no issues. Plenty long. One position per hole.

DGA baskets, all of which were in great repair, and looked almost brand new. Caught well, and easy to see. No issues here. One pin position per hole.

The tee signs were fine. They gave distance and hole number, and you could see every basket from the tee.

There were some fun lines here, even if they were short. The fairways were well mowed and easily discernible. For a pretty short course, I had fun throwing here. It was mostly wooded and technical, but not too tough.

Cons:

As said above, this is a pretty short course. You could easily play it with mids and putters. It is a good spot to throw fun lines with those mids and putters, though.

The rough here is thick. No two ways about it. I'd imagine there's a LOT of discs lost in the rough here. Keep your eyes on your discs, and more importantly, keep your discs on the short stuff.

The bugs here are pretty thick. Make sure to musk up before your round.

Navigation is a little wonky in spots. The transfer from 3 to 4 isn't immediately apparent (it's off to the left, up the trail). The biggest issue, though, is that if you didn't know it's there, you'd never find this course unless you were wandering the park. If you're in the parking lot, and looking at the soccer fields (away from the road), the course is up the trail on the left side of the parking lot. I didn't see a single sign pointing it out, which was odd.

Other Thoughts:

This isn't a great course, but it isn't a bad course, either, especially if you enjoy putter/mid rounds. Tight-ish ace runs are always fun, IMO.

I could definitely imagine this being a reasonably fun winter course. While it's probably not something to go out of your way to play, there's some fun factor here, for sure. Check it out if you're in the area.

Pros:

This course is set up along the west side of Wiese family park in the wooded area along the trail. The tee boxes are decent sized wood framed, crushed gravel filled boxes. These are decent and probably better than just dirt or grass. There are basic tee signs at each hole that serve their purpose for a short nine like this. The baskets are Mach 2's that are in good shape and catch fine. They have a decent variety of shots here as far as left and right. The course is free, permanent and has a port o potty by the parking lot.

Cons:

First off it's hard to find the first hole since there's no signs even indicating that there's a course here. It's located up the trail by the west side of the parking lot. It's confusing as to where the next hole is in a few spots. Like from 3 to 4 and 8 to 9. The trail the course plays around had dump trucks barreling down it which wasn't they safest thing I've seen. This is a pretty narrow trail too. The course can get soggy in spots and the bugs were awful, but there's nothing the designers can do about this either.

Other Thoughts:

This isn't worth going out of your way to play at all. It kind of seems like they just stuck 9 baskets out here. It's decent for what it is, but nothing to bring you back again.
