Pros:
- great use of space. Many of the Raleigh courses have 18 in this footprint. Even with the large amount of traffic it didn't feel crowded.
- as stated In the first review, this is unique to the Triangle. Reminds me of Cedarock or Horizons out west (to a certain point). Open and allows you to bomb out. In layout 2.0, I believe there are 2 par 3s (map updated!).
- it is a challenging course unless you consistently throw 400'. There are trees on every hole, some more than others - but not wooded.
- The trees are mature hardwoods, so low branches make a low ceiling, but there is lots of space to choose your routes. Challenging but fair.
- Really cool view of the Raleigh skyline at tee pad 2 (you aren't throwing at it any more).
- 1-9 is a loop, practice basket at start (or finish)
Other Thoughts:
Thank you for setting this up Raleigh Park and Rec! What an excellent use of the park. I was playing and they were re-setting the course. They had to (re)move 2-3 because of the daffodils. The parks guy said that it took 1000' off the total length for 2.0. They were measuring distance, new map reflects these changes. If you want to play quickly, get out before the college kids get up - otherwise you will get bogged down.
This is not the course to bring someone to to introduce them to disc golf - it will beat them down (even more so is there's wind). Take them to Kentwood or Diavolo. If you are looking for an opportunity to air it out in the Triangle, get out to this course before it's taken down!
