Vying for #1 Safety Nightmare

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 8, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

- decent for practice
- can play the 3 baskets as 9 holes with map
- park is generally is good shape
- some mild elevation change adds some of the only intrigue

Cons:

- only 3 baskets
- safety nightmare that plays way too close to pavilions, walking paths, and playgrounds
- wide open; windy days will exacerbate safety hazards
- in the category of "courses that shouldn't exist"
- signs for tees seem to have been partially built but never had numbers put on them
- navigation is very unclear
- natural tees
- no challenge or interest whatsoever
- holes are extremely short

Other Thoughts:

There is not much to say about this "course" - except that that title is very generous. I've played 224 courses now, and there's probably 5 or fewer that I would label as courses that should not exist - a boring course is still in someone's backyard and a good opportunity for practice. This course is a safety nightmare and really should not be there. I'm sure it gets very little traffic, but there's no way you can throw with anyone in the park and not risk clocking someone. In many cases that might be a child.

The general impression I got was that this course was started and never finished, so while the 3 baskets are serviceable and they started to put in tee signs (I think), there are no numbers, no marked tees, nothing clear about navigation besides the online course map. Really this should be treated as a practice area/make up your own course if nobody, and I mean nobody, is around.

This is another bagger special. I suppose cool if you live in the neighborhood and there are baskets in the ground to practice with. Otherwise, there's virtually nothing good to say about this space. Don't go out of your way unless you're like me - have played almost 100 courses in the Chicago area and just have to hit any new ones that pop up. I definitely don't see myself coming back.
