East Hanover DGC is a one year old course when I played here in April of 2018. The large sprawling park contains baseball fields, playground, fitness track, tennis courts and more.

The DGC starts and finishes both the front and back 9's in the center of the park near the street. There is a nice colored map here. Take a pic, it will help your navigation. The tee signs are a made with a nice colored composite material. The baskets are brand new Discatcher Pro 28 models. At this time, the course has natural tees with a front board. The natural tees are rough in places, boggy in others and one or two are filled with tripping, dangerous roots. They are currently the course's achillies heel.

The course uses the 9 baskets twice each to make 18 holes. This system works well here as the two tee pads always give you a different look at the basket. I liked the variety of long-short-Ace run-legitimate par 4's-open-technical-
uphill-downhills. Kudos to K & W Engineers for a great course design.

There is danger lurking on many holes with deep rough lining one side of the fairway on a number of holes. I wonder if the difficulty of the course might be over the head of many of it's players. This afternoon, there were three other groups playing and none of them were skilled enough to avoid the rough.

# 17 and 18 are both tough par 4's. # 17 is 578' but plays longer being semi-uphill. 18 is 597' with rough along the entire right side. It wouldn't have been too far fetched to make one of these an "easy" 5.

I think this might be a three season course. All the water drains off the high ground where the soccer and baseball fields are leaving the lower level around 4-5-6 very boggy. It would have to be pretty miserable during the winter months.

The biggest problem with the course right now is the lack of concrete pads. The current natural pads run the gauntlet from very serviceable to treacherous to currently not playable. Also, a few of the pads are now on the uphill, a particular peeve of mine.

I think this course could really benefit from having about 50 yards of wood chips spread about. These chips are sometimes available from the local park districts as they chip up all the downed trees and branches.

This is a solid, challenging intermediate course. With concrete pads, the rating goes up. If I notice that concrete pads have been installed, I'll be glad to raise my rating another 1/2 point. Until that time, I'd probably stay away from playing here during your Pennsylvania winters. If you do insist on playing then, wear your rubber boots.
