Elk Creek 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 26, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course was very well laid out. Plenty of hooks and crannies to work on technique and distance. Made par or just slightly above par on just above every hole, so may be a little too friendly for some in the scoring. Easy to navigate to next hole, and nicely shaded from the summer sun. Didn't think the course was as tough as others had stated compared to Liberty or Walnut Creek Park.

Cons:

Not much here except hard to find the long tees, don't think my buddy and I found one. Earlier review was right about the grass being pretty high on one hole. Better tee design would bump this up to a 4.5.

Other Thoughts:

If you want a good challenge without being ridiculously hard and hitting every tree like Liberty's course I would give this one a shot. I thought even if you made a mistake there was always someway to find an exit instead of hitting several trees. Thought the course was very fun and would recommend it to anyone.

Holy wooded 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 1, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Tee signs, trails are easy to follow. Baskets are in great shape. Good length and elevation changes. Tightly wooded for 16/18, which on some holes is a con but for the most part makes the course challenging

Cons:

Tee boxes could be better, very tight lanes on some holes that could use a tree removed here or there to make it just a little more friendly. Tee signs show 3 tees but I could only find 2 on a lot the holes. lots of bugs when i played. My biggest gripe was that the baskets are hard to see from the tee, and in some cases even halfway down the whole, this course would benefit greatly from some discatchers with that yellow band on top. Hole 16 needed to be mowed very badly.

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoyed playing this course and felt that it was a good challenge even with all the trees in the way. This course will make you very accurate if you play it a lot. Or you will be punished greatly with some high scores.

A Good Test (this course isn't an easy A) 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 13, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This isn't Peaks View. The course requires you to throw all your shots, both short and long with accuracy. It tests both your physical and your mental game.

The course winds through some dense woods, and makes you play every shot in your bag.

Cons:

I could list everything in the pros in the cons.

If you think you are entitled to a birdie putt on every hole, you will dislike this course.

This course seems to have more than its share of LARGE stinging insects inhabiting it... (but you're in the woods so what do you expect)

Other Thoughts:

This course has undergone huge improvements over the last two years. Its a credit to all the guys who have put in a lot of hard work on it in that time.

Course update 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 30, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Challenging,beautiful course.

Cons:

Frustrating and underused.

Other Thoughts:

Prior to the Elk Creek Classic, Labor Day weekend 2007, the course received a significant makeover. The white tees are now all developed, and feature raised timbers w/ gravelled surface. Both red and blue tees are more clearly visible, and all holes have signage. In addition, every fairway was cleaned up, most were widened, and an additional pin was set for the pro fairway of #16.
While Elk Creek still demands accuracy, these improvements allow more leeway for the power thrower, and the blues have to rate as among the most challenging in the state.
