Other Thoughts:
Erickson Park hosts this decent DGC on the east side of Roland, IA. A beginner type park style course that matches up well with the other 9er on the west end of town (Jacobson Bear Creek). There is a little more length on this course, but it comes at the price of the hazards to work around. There is a shelter and a sand volleyball court in play on #1 and #2. A path in play on #3. #4 plays to the back of the stadium and not too far from a small playground (though it would take a pretty errant throw to have that in play). #5 forces a hyzer to clear the left field corner. #6 and #7 could have the ball field in play on very errant shots. #8 is along the left field corner of the small diamond and #9 throws near another playground area. While you are adding 700 or so feet to this 9 holes over JBC, the hazards drop the half rating for me. It's wonderful to have these 2 courses in the small town of Roland (population 1362 [as of 2020]). You can make 18 holes of it. Actually, I think the last time I played, I hit both of them twice. I have enjoyed my rounds in Roland. It's not too far from Ames and only 3 or so miles off I-35. I will probably take in some more rounds here.
