Open and Hilly 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2002 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Fine course that has the mix between open and hilly then moving to several wooded holes. Most of the time you can see the basket so if you're a biginner or come with a girl, they can get the hang of it really quickly. Nice porta-potty right by the parking lot and easy to find. Several people are on the course making it feel like you're in the right place. Several holes are VERY long. Makes it fun to bomb it for those that can. . . This is a con in the next section though.

Cons:

Bring bug spray! Various swampland! Be ready for it. Slightly boring for those that have played top-tier courses (which I don't consider myself, so any course is great to me). If the grass isn't mowed and it's been damp, the place gets muddy and shoes get wet pretty fast. On a hot muggy day, climbing some of the rolling hills can take a lot out of you. Regarding the long holes, girls get frustrated when they're 10 strokes deep and still not even close. A more advanced course in that respect.

Other Thoughts:

Definitely a course to check out if you're in the area. Nearby Wauconda has an incredible Mexican dump (inside a small Mexican grocery) that's a great place to have a taquito and guacamole after a satisfying round.

Best in the area 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 25, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Course is well maintained with nicely mowed out fairways when the high grass grows in.

a great variety of slight rolling fairways to stay on and avoid the long rough, water/marsh hazard on a few holes, tree hazards to bend around, a creek to avoid, and a few wooded holes.

Makes for great use of the land.

Cons:

One of the better courses in the area. the only possible cons...

Beautiful days attract large groups of experienced and inexperienced golfers alike.

Mid summer they mow the long grass rough around the manicured fairways which makes the open area easy and useless.

watch out for the marsh.

Other Thoughts:

Great technical course to use throws that you may not typically use at other courses in the area.

RL 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 9, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good flow.

It goes from way open to think n' wooded pretty quickly, which will change your mode from 'grip n' rip' to 'accurate' rather quickly.

There is the longest hole in IL here. Get ready!!

There are some decent ( for an IL standard) elevational changes here. In the summer months, the swamp/bayou/creek will become a factor as they can and will (I lost my 175 g pink XCalibur on the "swamp hole" because I couldn't find it when in waist deep in water....) eat up discs. That makes it that much more challenging.

This is a good place to find lost discs, so keep your wits about you.

Cons:

Bring BUG SPRAY!!!! Bring SPARE DISCS!!!!

You can lose a disc very quickly. Make sure your name and number are on the back of each disc you plan on playing here.

Other Thoughts:

If you play this course in the fall/winter, a lot of the environmental challenges go away. That's because the prairie grass and marsh reeds are no longer a factor and it's flatter. Keep that in mind.

Meeeehhhh 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 3, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Hole 18 is huge! 800 some feet. Some decsent elevation change. The holes in the back of the course are through some tight fairways although much shorter. Nice change between wide open holes to wooded holes. Challenges your long range and your middle game. Without these holes it would not be worth playing whatsoever.

Cons:

Big swamp in the middle of the park. Likes to eat discs up. Holes in front of the park are wide open. Not much imagination went into their design. Low scores are common here. Besides holes 12 and 18 you could call it a pitch-n-putt.

Other Thoughts:

From spring through fall there is Thursday night leagues.
There are also Sunday leagues that run year round at 2pm.

Check it out 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 1, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Well mowed fairways makes the course easy to navigate on most of the holes. Two of the holes are extremely amusing due to the fact that they are both over 500 feet (hole 18 is 845 feet).

Cons:

The course is a tad dull and has very few obstacles until you enter the woods which is where it gets hard to navigate. The shots in the woods are very hard, with the baskets being out of sight on most of them. Three of the holes play alongside a swamp in which you will most definitely get muddy if it has rained during the week. Lots of trash lying everywhere.

Other Thoughts:

A good number of shots have very little creativity (just straight, open and short), and then a good number are extremely challenging in which there is no clear path from you to the basket. Yet the vast size of the course and THE MONSTER HOLE 18 is enough to keep one satisfied. Check it out.

Nice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 12, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Course seemed well maintained

Cons:

front half of course just zig zags back and forth across a field. Not much imagination used in layout.

Other Thoughts:

The day I played the course was full and there were several foursomes waiting to start! Never seen so many people on a course outside of a tournament.
