Some demanding fairways that make you think more than twice about your shot. The front 9 make a nice loop close to the parking lot to replenish your fluids before you head to the back 9. When you start the back 9 hold on, because there are back to back par 4's and hole 11 is the harder of the par 4's on the course, then there's hole 18 which is a great finishing hole.

Not enough holes-the course is fun and a challenge to play. I get bummed out about hole 15 knowing that there are only 3 holes left.

Keith the park ranger has been the best thing that Farragut state park and all of us disc golfers could ask for, he has done a great job for the discgolfers with keeping up on the courses. Give him a high 5 when you see him, he deserves much more.

Where to begin...I think the best place to start would be the overall design of the course. While the length is fairly substantial ( I believe it is around 7000ft) the holes themselves are a throwback to early disc golf, meaning accuracy will be rewarded over power. With that said, many of the larger holes will entice the big arms with some of the imaginative fairway designs.
Using hole one as an example:
Teeing from under a ceiling of trees through a tunnel the first 100 alone is demanding. Adding to the challenge the fairway and landing area are elevated by an 8ft rock wall. If you clear the wall and travel another 250ft or so you have put yourself in a great position to attack the protected green as the fairway once again narrows.
What I love about this hole is that a conservative fairway driver off the tee will provide a good chance at a three with only a 325-350ft tee shot, leaving between 150-200ft to the pin. But for all the big arms out there, the fairway is begging to be challenged and piercing the narrow gap to the pin provides a perfect Risk vs Reward for a 75-100ft Eagle opportunity.
This theme plays itself out over and over on this course which makes for some exciting golf and what I expect to be some exciting tournament rounds in the future.
There are 3 par fours on the front (Holes 1, 4, 6) and 3 on the back ( Holes 10, 11, 18). The back nine
provides ample opportunity to score well, especially holes 15 through 17 which. They can certainly provide some much needed birdies as you make your way to the beast of a hole that is 18. I believe that if this course has the opportunity to host some large scale events, hole 18 will become the premier finishing hole in the Northwest. The fairway is slanted to the left and very tight, maybe only 45 ft wide and split at the corner (again providing that all important aggressive vs conservative theme). A good tee shot will dog leg left after about 280ft and carry left another 50ft or so setting up a demanding upshot shot of about 200ft to an elevated green canopied beneath pine trees. A 3 on this hole is a terrific score.
Overall the Clever design, Beautiful surroundings, and challenge of this course make it not only fun to play but a good tournament course as well.

The only problems i have with this course will be fixed as it ages. The tee pads are going in i believe very soon. And many of the trails between the holes that are hard to follow will be worn down with time.

Risk reward is the name of the game. Bring your Teebird or other control driver. The course is cleaned up fully and in speaking with Keith the pads will be poured on the August the 25th. The course has a couple of am level par 4's and advanced level par 4's and two pro level par 4's. There are also alt pins that will be in soon that will push some of these par 4's even further back. Lefty's will find a tough but fair course as well.

The pads aren't in yet.. There is a tourney there the 11th of September and they will all be in by then.
