Decent Course At Flensburg University in Northern Germany! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 25, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

First thing is to correct the course information. There are now 18 holes here not the 9 listed. The course is set up on the campus of Flensburg University in Flensburg, Germany. Flensburg is right near the Denmark border in Northern Germany.
The course plays in an area between the athletics building and some dorms. There is a nice metal course map at the beginning. The area is rolling hills, with some water hazards in form of a pond and a creek. There are baskets and there are tee signs. The teepads are natural. There is some nasty rough to avoid. This is no pitch and putt course. It's long enough to be difficult and when the wind and water are added, it makes for a real challenging throw. I passed on one hole over the pond when you probably have to throw 275 to clear it BUT with the wind howling, I didn't think the Risk-Reward was worth it.

Cons:

The wind coming off the Baltic Sea was blowing hard the day I played. The grass was tall making finding your disc, even in the middle of the fairway, very difficult at times. Navigation was difficult as there were no next tee signs. I had printed an on-line map but as the course has been expanded to 18, this didn't help me a great deal.

Other Thoughts:

This is best of the 6 European courses I've played thus far. If I went to this University, I'd be out playing all the time, hoping for a calm day. Are there any days here when the wind is not blowing gale force?
