Pros:
- Concrete tee pads are roomy, properly positioned, and in excellent condition - most are brand new as of August 2017
- Baskets are high-quality and in excellent condition
- High-quality metal tee signs are mounted directly onto the tee pad surface, replacing the old etched-in signs
- Absolutely beautiful park and course, well-maintained and frequently mowed
- Plenty of trashcans encourage players to keep the course beautiful and litter-free
- Great layout uses elevation changes to maximum potential and features pedestrian bridges to cross creek
- Challenging due to vegetation, water hazards, hole-layout, and, of course, always-gusting Texas wind
- Fun variety of tee shots over water, through tight gaps, around blind corners, uphill and downhill, and a few ACE RUNS
- Navigation is pretty easy and intuitive, even without a map, as mowed paths and sidewalks indicate direction to next tee in most cases
- Water fountains near Hole #1 Tee
Cons:
- Course can hold water after heavy rains and well-hidden irrigation system can sometimes exacerbate problem. New 18-hole layout mitigates what was the biggest issue by using pedestrian bridges for crossing the creek. Waterproof shoes are recommended after any precipitation.
- Easy to get to, but pretty far out of the way for non-locals
- Restrooms for residents only
- Mixed-use park means several holes may require waiting on walkers/joggers to clear before throwing, and care should be taken when throwing around blind corners to avoid accidents
Other Thoughts:
-Expanded to 18 holes in 2017
-Set in very nice picturesque park
-Just about every hole can be birdied, but the course has TEETH - tall grass, shrubbery, water hazards
-Lower level and inconsistent players are likely to lose a disc or two
-Makes pretty good use of elevation changes
-Can play sidewalk-and-beyond OB or hazard for added difficulty
