Fort Walla Walla Park Course Review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 7, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

(We played the blue course, a full 18 holes.) The first two holes were promising - interesting terrain and nicely manicured lawn. The next 11 holes were another story (see Cons), but 14-18 were again on nice green lawn.

Cons:

Holes 3 through 13 were not only on marginalized land, most of them were in uncut weeds where long pants were essential to keep your legs from being perforated by stickers. A few of the holes, due to their length, I feel should have rated at par 4 instead of 3. Getting to hole 3 was an adventure as the maps provided don't clearly illustrate the way to get to it. I hate to criticize any course where they had the gumption to even put one in, and I know it can be a struggle to get volunteers wrangled and deal with parks officials. Any course is better than no course and, with proper support and patronage, the resources to improve can come. I wish the folks who love this course the best of luck.

Other Thoughts:

I haven't played a lot of courses to date, but I see how some of them are pushed onto marginalized land, either because there isn't enough well-cared for areas to accommodate them, or because the park authorities aren't keen to fill their picnic areas with flying discs. Some of them it's because the were erected decades ago when the sport was not well known or nearly as popular as it is today.
