Short but Sweet 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Maintenance - The fairways were cleanly defined, though fairly narrow, and trimmed at a good length. The rough is composed mainly of prairie grass that was not difficult to trek through and was sparse enough to easily locate any errant discs. You will not lose a disc on this course.

Isolation - Though it is directly next to the RV park, there is a buffer of trees in between that allows you to forget. It makes for a secluded feel and you will almost definitely have the course to yourself. I played on a high-traffic weekend and didn't see other groups playing the course in my multiple rounds.

Navigation - It is very easy to find your way through the course and locate baskets even without signage (mentioned below). The clean fairway makes a loop around the prairie grass which fills the center of the course.

Cons:

Length - Intermediate or Advanced players will never be able to release a full drive with a distance driver. The holes vary from about 150' to 300' and beg for a well-controlled midrange throw.

Tees - No tees are provided, so you'll be making your own with two discs. The grass is maintained well enough where you shouldn't have issues with footing, but a concrete tee would be nice.

Obstacles - The difficulty of this course is generated almost purely from the narrow fairway, even though you're generally fine shooting from the rough as the course is fairly wide open. There are a few holes with baskets behind or near evergreen trees, but there could have been a better layout to incorporate the existing trees and hills.

Signs - When I played, there were no hole signs on the course. It left me confused as to whether Hole 1 was really Hole 9, but the course starts and ends right in the same spot and the baskets are easy to find so it didn't provide much difficulty.

Other Thoughts:

Though I wasn't expecting much from this 9-hole course, my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having the course to ourselves accentuated the feeling of seclusion and made the rounds more fun. Though the design, signage, and tees could easily be improved (or, for signs and tees, added as they don't exist), it was pretty charming and understated. It challenged us to focus on midrange control and putting, but it's clear there wasn't enough room for a course full of boomers.

It is an unassuming and approachable course to bring the family out to play, and would be a good course to throw your first round.
