Freedom, not just a Wham! song

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Freedom park is a short 9 hole course that weaves it way around the trees and even over and around a creek through most of the course. Most lines are at least somewhat technical with trees and their branches being the most common obstacles. These throws across the creek are anxiety inducing until you realize that getting your disc back shouldn't be too difficult. I found the course even though short was quite variety as far as RHBH/LHBH lines and even hole 9 I found myself throwing a short RHFH roller. The course is set in a park style with green grass. Very nice tee pads and baskets, far more than adequate and navigation is extremely simple, no need for maps.

Cons:

Anytime I see a hole designed across a parking lot I just shake my head. I've seen many holes like this over the years and very rarely do I get to play them because parking lots are usually filled with cars and sometimes people getting in or out of cars, not a smart place to put a disc golf hole in where you're throwing little plastic missiles. Hole 6 is a poorly thought out and designed hole.

The course does have a few holes that are a little too wide open for my taste. This with the very short distance on every hole out here makes the course very easy. After a few rounds with putters or SuperClass discs you're ready for something you can play that require more than a flick of the wrist.

Other Thoughts:

This is a really cool park with a Sherman tank sitting near the parking lot and a jet as well. This is a fun course to play and a good option for new players and families if they don't mind throwing near the way or retrieving the discs they throw into it. Overall good for what it is but what it is is short. Check it out if in the area and enjoy.
