Pros:

A well maintained park. Quite a few signature holes, quite a few where the creek is a factor. My favorite is #15, which can be an easy hole. #15's tee shot is over the creek into a tree-lined fairway. The approach to #15 is usually easy but don't overshoot into the Big Creek. The finish is great, with a final cross-creek shot on #16, then #17 going under the bridge, and #18's basket tucked away in a hollow.

Cons:

Some older asphalt tees are in poor shape. However, most holes have newer concrete pads in more difficult positions. Hole#5 can get real muddy. There are numerous roads that are certainly OB during tournament play. A few holes get real close to picnic tables and popular non-golfing areas, be careful!!

Other Thoughts:

The course map on this website is the best available. Don't forget you have to cross the bridge after playing #6. The 7th tee is on the levee. The city of Hays has many hotels of all types/qualities. It is a perfect mid-point for long-trips through Kansas. It is amazing that in a vast sea of tree-less plains, this DGC works through a wonderful forest of tall/mature trees.

Great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 2, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

The grounds were very well taken care of. each hole had it's own obstacles, and was unique. on more than one tee you are either throwing over a ditch/valley, or over the creak (more than once). every pad was in good shape. most of the tees have a tall stone next to it with a diagram (map and distance)

Cons:

a few of the maps/diagrams are missing or broken off.

Other Thoughts:

i am new to the game, and new to the hays area. i look forward to playing more often and i feel lucky to have a course like this to learn/grow on.

A great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 8, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A great place to work on your shots. Depending on the basket placement this course can be difficult. A lot of water which is a pro/con. Not exactly the best place to get too crazy with multiple shots around all the water but there is plenty of land available.

Cons:

Not a lot of elevation.
The baskets can be temperamental.
This park can get pretty packed with all sorts of people doing all sorts of different things. Be patient. Be safe
