Would be nice in your backyard ... but it probably isn't. 2+ years

Pros:

Six nice Discatcher baskets.
Baskets are placed AWAY from school facilities.
Good area for field work.

Cons:

No tees, no tee signs, no indication of where to tee from.
Long walks between most holes, although good for getting steps in!
Half of the baskets are at the edge of the open school field.

Other Thoughts:

Definitely a practice area. The baskets are spaced enough to create decent holes, so pick a tee spot and go for it.
Actually, 3 of the baskets would make pretty good holes, the first one (starting on the east side of the school, is halfway up a hill, by a couple of trees (I teed near the building and made it an uphill hole). After a short walk through some trees, you are elevated above the school, with the second basket on the same ridge, but separated by a lowered school road, don't grip lock one onto the school roof!
The third, fourth and fifth baskets are around the outer edge of the school field, pick a tee, throw a big hyzer drive and move on. The last basket offers a tee from the school road, downhill to the basket in a narrowing field surrounded by trees.
This could be made into a decent nine-hole course, but with four eighteen hole courses in Durham, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

It's a Practice Area 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 17, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

But it's a really nice practice area. I popped in here en route to Valley Springs and was pleasantly surprised with the potential of the area. True, there are no tees. Isn't that really better for this type of area? You can "tee off" from anywhere.

It's six holes scattered around a series of fields with no hole design at all. So you are free to play safari, and by safari, I mean practice any type of shot you want. Bring all your discs: you aren't likely to lose any. Throw them all: you aren't going to be interrupted. Bring you're new discs: haven't you been waiting to see how they fly?

What Glenn School has going for it that similar courses that I've seen don't is a bit of elevation. It has three holes in an open field. I wouldn't expect fewer than that. But the other three holes provide different looks which allow you to work with elevation. The first hole is on a the crest of a small hill. The second is on the edge of a long ridge. The sixth is at the end of a downhill tunnel.

And the big field, which houses three of the holes? Even big arms should be able to stand at one end and toss toward the far basket without fear of going too far. So it's a driving range too.

Obviously this isn't a course in the traditional sense. But as practice area, it's got a lot going for it.

Cons:

Right, well. There are no tees. There are no signs. There is no layout persay. I think we've established it's not a course as we would often use the term.

Other Thoughts:

What's really great about the lack of tees is the ability to introduce newcomers of various ability/strength levels to the game and come up with tees of lengths that would suit them.
