Uniquely technical 2+ years drive by

Pros:

This is a unique 9 hole course that captures the spirit of WV disc golf. Several holes are on benches that allow nice views. Some holes can be challenging for all players, while others offer reasonable ace opportunities. Awesome birding-- cerulean warblers, black-throated green warblers, ovenbirds, pileated woodpeckers, baltimore orioles, blue-winged warblers, yellow-billed cuckoos, indigo buntings, yellow-throated warblers, red-eyed vireos, coopers hawks are all pretty common.

Cons:

Forested fairways still need to be played more to reduce vegetation growth, but expected for a new course. A couple paths can be slick if raining or recently rained. Be aware that the walk from hole 4 to 5 requires minor backtracking and hike up hill and from 8 to 9 requires walking down and around the large horse barn.

Other Thoughts:

I think the main issue with parking is that there's so many places to park it can be confusing if you're not local. Only 9 holes, but loops to make an easy 18. The course is within a mile of the college's firing range...don't let the gunshots get to you! If you have a dog, check out the pond between holes 8 and 9 toward the ball golf course.

Good if your near 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 8, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Really fun and seems to get more fun each time i play it as there are always improvements. It can get a bit grown up over the summer but that just ads to the fun. Some holes are challenging and some not so much giving a nice round of 9. You really can't miss it if you drive into the Recreation Center. There are now Carpets on all the Ts and it is mostly nice and dry

Cons:

There needs to be a few more signs to tell you where to go but there are maps at the start to go by. Also needs to have a sign for the start.

Other Thoughts:

If you are anywhere near it, it is worth heading over to play the 9. Probably not worth the trip from the Route 79 as it is 15 miles off the highway...
