Stopping in the original Nashville, I made time for a quick round. I'm glad it was a quick round at Glover Park.
- This is the epitome of squeezing in a course. It plays along the perimeter of several ball fields. In addition, the fairway also plays alongside, or over, a very, very basic walking trail.
- #1 is a perfectly suitable, basic opening hole. 200 feet, slightly downhill, open tee shot to a basket protected by trees. The fact this is probably the third or fourth best hole on the course lets you know about the rest.
- I think the concept for #6 is good. The execution is anything but. You basically have to throw over, or around the edge of an outfield fence while throwing over a walking trail and swing. If nobody is around, it's fine. If there is a way to retrieve a disc that sails over the fence, that'd be good too. My tee shot landed 25 feet from the basket and I was just glad I avoided trouble. In the right hands, this tight layout would be an excellent hole. Here, it's a miss.
- The last three holes are all fine. #8 & 9 allow you to throw with some distance. Both holes are longer than 300 feet. Both have tight fairways with obstacles on the left (fence, parking lot, basketball court) and trees & underbrush on the right. Throwing low stingers on both holes was the safest, smartest shot.
- The water tower as a backdrop on #9 was nice. The tight green/approach on #9 was a great feature even if it was more luck than planning. This gives a true island green feel.
- If there wasn't a walking trail in play, holes #2 & 5 would be better. I played on a quite Sunday afternoon. Three other cars in the parking lot and I had to stop multiple times for walkers.

The layout is a bit ambitious for the amount of space. Turn that thought on its head, it IS impressive that a nine-hole course fits into this space.
- Poor signage. Poor tees. Look for the generic green posts to find out where you're throwing from.
- Baskets probably haven't been given a look since they were installed.
- Course allows nearly zero margin for error without bringing other park facilities into play. Or the park road (#1) or parking lot (#9) into play).
- For a relatively short course (240-footlength average according to DGCR; 221 according to UDisc), I wouldn't call this generally a beginner friendly course. That's 100% due to the narrow fairways. You're telling me a brand-new player is more likely to hit all the tight gaps, or they're having to retrieve a disc from the baseball fields?
- Course's general quality was poor. Even by small town standards, you could tell with the railroad tracks half a mile away, this was the wrong side of them.

There are genuinely good parts to Glover Park. Less than a week after playing this course, I played a temporary course just outside Charlotte that had some fairways & greens just as narrow as this place.
- Holes #3 & 4 only exist so that the course could have 9 holes. They are as simple, short, and open as you'll see.
- Other than #1, there really aren't any trees in play. You'll have to be throwing some wide sweeping tosses to bring the ones on the outskirts into play.
- Nashville, North Carolina is older than Nashville, Tennessee, founded in 1780. So, there's that.
- Unless it's self-inflicted overly aggressive, or bad, putting, you shouldn't be shooting anything worse than a 3 on this course. On the flip side, you do have to throw good tee shots on certain holes (thinking #5 & 6, especially) to get your 2s.
- Even the overly generous, rating inflating reviews on UDisc have this rated somewhat low. That should tell you something.
- I'll drive by this exit plenty of times on NC-64. I sincerely doubt I'll be stopping here again, unless I'm a glutton for punishment.

-A mostly recreational course that meanders around ballfields, a few trees, and open holes.

-Holes 1, 7-9 are the only holes that resemble what you'll find on other regulated disc courses. Hole 1 tee has been moved to the right to avoid fence and some trees.

-Holes 8-9 those with distance will enjoy the openness to reach the basket.

-Tees are marked with a green post and most still have the hole number on them.

-Navigation is counter-clockwise, and it would not be possible to get lost here.

-From the bag on the tee a good variety of putter, mid's, fairways, and driver.

-Beginners and Recreational a good layout to work on the game with birdie opportunities. Intermediate and Advanced enjoy the longer open holes, and the course bag.

-The baskets are in bad shape, and some were leaning. No issues with the putter popping out, put I didn't really have any long putts that hit chains.

-Holes 2 thru 6 are just makeshift. Place a tee here and a basket there, you feel like you're playing against the outfield fence than the course. A few tees are pushed against the fence. Through these holes it just doesn't feel like a disc course at all.

-#8 and 9 the two open holes at about 350 feet. Well, 8 looks like 9, and 9 looks like 8.

-There's a gazebo in the #6 fairway, if somebody is using it, you're going to have to tee on the other side of it, and your now reduced to a putt just outside C2. Very likely joggers could be using the course as well.

-Other than the hole number at the tee and some of those are missing, no information about the hole. You'll need UDisc for par and distance.

-Lost disc potential pretty much only along 8 and 9 on the right side where there are some bushes and trees with thick branches. A wayward disc could lodge up in the branches.

Glover Park a great place to bring your family for a picnic, use the playground, and take the kids on a round of disc golf. Even with the four longer open holes not too inspiring for myself. I doubled time it to get myself back on the road toward home. I did enjoy #1 and it's the only hole requiring some type of technical shot that you would find on other courses. Holes 2 thru 6 were just too mickey mouse with a few hopeful shots. However, a good course for newer players to gain confidence or just for a shrug of a shoulders round for others.

My overall rating is anchored on a good scoring opportunity that most players will enjoy at a 3.0. The time to play was 25 minutes.

The Gazebo Hole:

-No 6. Par 3 at 218 feet. Is a dogleg left around the outfield fence at about 70 feet out, a pine tree on the right just 30 feet in front with a 25-foot gap. Your being pushed against the fence, and you're going to have to make the dogleg in a hurry. The gazebo is just 70 feet past the dogleg, and a beautiful gazebo flower bushes growing on three sides, you're coming in on the open side. Basket is in the open if you miss the dogleg their trees waiting for you. I can very easily get an underworld to make the dogleg, but I didn't get it high enough to sail over the gazebo, went right thru it and got caught up in the flower bushes. A little funny to watch, glad nobody was in there.

Notable Basket Placement:

-No. 1 at 201 feet is an open tee to a basket place in heavy pine trees, all encompassed in C1. The tee has been placed away from the fence where it used to be, and a group of trees are no longer in the line, so a direct shot to the green. There's also pine straw throughout C1 Giving a hot skip. I felt this was the only technical shot on the course that wasn't some sort of a throw it out there, and the most enjoyable hole on the course. Fun watching my disc sail thru the pines and skip past the basket.
