Grace Way DGC

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 29, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Grace Way DCG is located on the property of First Baptist Church of De Soto and was established in 2022 by the church. The church maintains the property. The course is scenic on hilly and wooded terrain. The road, Grace Way, is an asphalt road that connects the church property with Boyd Street, which is one of the main thoroughfares through the city. There is a gravel parking lot for the course located behind the church building. When approaching the course from Highway 21, the holes #1 through #6 will be on the right side of the road, or the south side, while holes #7 through #9 will be on the left side of the road, or the north side. The tee pads for holes #1 and #3 are on the asphalt surface of street known as Grace Way. The pads for the remainder of the course are turf. Each tee features an attractive bright green sign that displays the hole number, distance, par, and a Bible verse. The flow of the course is easy to follow even without a map. For #1 through #6, the next tee pad is a short walk from the previous basket. The distances from tee to basket and the overall layout of the course are beginner player friendly for #1 through #6. The baskets are sturdy, bright yellow ProBasket Competition that are visible from the tee pads for holes #1 through #6. Holes #7 through #9 are a bit more of a challenge, and should appeal more to an experienced player.

Cons:

Due to the acreage of the property, the fairways of #1 through #6 are within above average close proximity of one another compared to most other courses. This will pose a problem if more than two groups play the course at the same time. The fairways for #1, #2, and #3 are especially close together. A long, errant throw from the tee pad of #1 could easily fly over the fairway of #2 and land on the fairway of #3. In the event there are more than two groups playing this course at the same time, I recommend that the group that arrives after the group that is in the process of playing #1 through #6, start the game at #7 and play through #9, and then play through #1 through #6.

Other Thoughts:

I found this course to be fun and worthy of future visits. First Baptist Church of De Soto provided a fun course for the residents of De Soto and the surrounding area.
