Grandview University has added a short course amongst its campus in the north part of Des Moines, IA. Not to be confused with Grandview Park, 9 baskets squeeze into 3 separate areas of the grounds. 1-4 play on the center of campus, 5-6 play on the other side of a residence hall and 7-9 play near the soccer field on the SE corner of campus. Nice Veteran baskets with plastic signs on short stakes marking the tee areas. Some of these play off the walking paths, others are natural with a stone front stop. The course will give a quick round of play with some walking. The longest (#5) at 242' with the others in a 140' - 218' range. A few trees to work around on #1-3, the rest are pretty wide open. Good to work on your short game or maybe have an ace run or two. A nice course, just seems squeezed in the area and had to find 3 areas to get 9 holes. My major concern keeping the rating down is the safety. #1-5 play either on or around walking paths, #7 tees off one as well. #5 and #6 cross fairways, another safety issue to watch. I did enjoy my round here, could be a warm-up for some. I will probably play again.
