Better than expected 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 28, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Better fairways than I expected with decent variety of shots. If you enjoy Lunchtime, definitely check out this park. Nothing wooded or elevated per se, but they did a good job incorporating what was already there.

Cons:

Weird shaped park (long and narrow), and you have to navigate around a flooded area to get to hole 5 from hole 4. But, there is both a trail and a concrete path that will get you around the swamp so it's not a big deal. Because of the park's shape, hole 9 is pretty far from hole 1. Unfortunately the tree on hole 2 fell down and was removed (gorgeous tree!). Kind of wish we could add a water gap hole over the flooded area.

Other Thoughts:

I avoided this course for a long time because of the lack in quality of courses of this type (city park courses in South Portland are known to be meh). But I'm very happy I checked it out. Sure, it's not the most technical or advanced but it definitely finds a way to provide me with what I want out of a course. Interesting obstacles/fairways, a good use of the space. Definitely one of my go-to's for a quick round closeby.

Great for beginners/quick rounds 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 22, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

1- Very beginner friendly.
2- Easy to navigate layout
3- Enough variation to require a few different shots or thought consideration.
4- Few longer distance holes to disenhearten beginners.
5- Grass is typically well maintained.

Cons:

1- Get's swampy when the rainy season hits. Borderline unplayable.
2- Foot traffic is a bit of a concern, but It never bothered me anytime I went?
3- Some built up vegetation if you throw off the course into the thick.

Other Thoughts:

It's not award winning, but I've played some pretty bad courses before, and honestly this is pretty good for what it is. Not every course has to be an experts wet dream to be a great course. It's good for what it is, and if you're trying to use it for something it isn't and don't like it, you only have yourself to blame!

My home field. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 22, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well Maintained grounds and equipement. Easy to navigate. Little risk of losing a disc. Open enouph for beginners, but enough obsticles to keep experienced players interested. In the middle of Beaverton so it quick and easy to access.

Cons:

Can be hard to find the first time you go there. Just look for that little yellow house on the right and turn into the next parking lot. Go to the back corner of the lot and you'll see the path that runs to Tee #1.

Other Thoughts:

This is not a course you really travel to, to play. This is a great practice ground for a new technique, new disc, or even a new player. If you live in or around Beaverton you should make a point to play it at least once.

sunny 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 4, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Nice close in course.
Good Baskets and nice tees.
Not to long and open, wich makes it a good course to practice different shots.
Great signs that give the needed info
Lots off trash can all over the park

Cons:

Lots of pathways cross the course
Hole 9 now has a monster walk which is not to nice.
Can get busy both with players and walkers so you can have to wait on the tee for a little while

Other Thoughts:

Hole 9 got moved for what looks like wetland reconstruction and now has you throw right at the basketball court. I can just see ball players getting hit during the summer.

Pros:

Very well maintained park.
Mach V baskets in great shape! (brand new)
Beautiful weeping willows sheltering greens.
Estuary nearby = good bird watching during rounds.
Great variety of distances, 215' up to 400'.

Cons:

Be careful of pedestrians!
Alternate pin placements would be great.
No tee-signs yet.
No maps yet.
Hole 9 has no official tee-pad.
Some local golfers have been drinking and leaving their trash near the teepads/baskets! :(

Other Thoughts:

This is a great practice course. You can play the whole course in half an hour and get some good shots in. The hole distances are nice. It's great to play a 9 hole course with a 400' drive and a slightly technical 370' pump!

Alcohol is not permitted in this park. I've been finding beer cans and bottles near the tee-pads which is not good. There are community volunteer patrols going through the park and if they see this, it's real bad PR for the course.

All in all, I really enjoy this course. It's a great place to get a quick round in with one or two friends, or get some serious practice in.
