This is my home course... 2+ years drive by

Pros:

There are no rocks in Gustavus! Your disc won't ever strike anything harder than a spruce tree, I've played this course for years with the same discs with almost no damage to them. Holes are relatively short but technical, and will force you to have a variety of shot types. The course is situated in tall spruce, then opening into a meadow, the trees offer some protection, making it playable even in high winds. This is a secluded course in a rural area, the only traffic you're likely to hear will be the occasional aircraft, all in all a very nice walk in nature. It's not a busy place, there are about 10-15 active local players.

Cons:

Targets are being upgraded slowly, several are still cheap "costco" type with fewer and smaller gauge chains... you'll have some in-and-outs if you're not careful on these. There are no marked tees or signage. I strongly recommend that you find a local to go with your first time to show you the ropes. Try Travis he's listed his phone # on the course page. Unfortunately the largest elevation change on this course is about 3-4ft simply because of the local geography... if you're in the area and desire more elevation changes check out the Juneau course, which has some drastic elevation changes.

Other Thoughts:

Here's a pro and a con that go together... There are no walks from the green to the next tee! To maximize the number of holes on this volunteer created course, you play out, then turn around and play the same targets back to the beginning. The con here is that holes aren't intentionally designed on the way back, just the result of the placement of the first half. It comes off very playable despite this though.
