Pros:
-good mix of open and wooded holes
-nice variation of shots
-holes 4 and 14 allow you to bring out your biggest drivers yet still require good placement
-typically not too crowded
-fairways are (mostly) well kept
-11 has a really cool elevated basket
-next tee signs are mostly accurate
Cons:
-rough is VERY tall in the summer. You'll spend at least 5 mins, if not more, looking for discs that strayed off the fairway.
-speaking of the rough, be wary of snakes, groundhog holes, thorns, and clingers while looking for discs. I came out of the round with many cuts on my ankles and clingers stuck to my socks and shoes
-wooded holes are rocky and tricky to navigate. Watch your footing!
-the park includes a baseball field and picnic pavilion which get busy on the weekends. People will park right on holes 1 and 2 making them difficult to play. We skipped these to avoid hitting cars.
-very hilly! 4-9 brings you down and back up an 80ft elevation change, and then up some more to get to the back 9
-the walk from 9 to 10 is very long
-not very beginner friendly
-baskets without next tee signs make it tough to navigate if you havent played there before
Other Thoughts:
This was the first course I had ever played and back then I had no problem with it. But as I play more and more and on different courses, Hackett's Park struck a bad chord with me once I returned to play it again. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon but the park was insanely crowded because a baseball game had just finished and people were barbecuing at the pavilion. I didn't remember just how overgrown the course is, or how rocky it was up the middle of wooded holes. Even though I threw my first ever 400ft+ drive on 14, I can't give this course a good review due mostly to the cons above. It's an interesting course to play, and as long as you go in prepared you should have an okay time
