Solid, but not spectacular, 9 holer... 2+ years

Pros:

9 hole course located in a campground (county park) outside Ashippun.

DGA baskets, all in good repair. One pin position per hole. Nice basket placements on several holes.

Concrete tee pads. Long enough, wide enough, solid. One tee pad per hole. It's always nice to see the effort put in for good tees, even on out of the way courses.

Not a ton of distance here, but at least there's a couple holes over 300' so you're not throwing putters all day. There's some pretty cool holes once you get in the woods. Holes 3 and 4 are easily the best holes on the course. Lots of trees, and forced lines. Hole 1 is a somewhat fun shot, with an abandoned swingset in your line.

Cons:

Outside a few holes, there's a lot of openness here. The last few holes were kind of a letdown after the fun in the woods. This is a course that caters to the campers onsite, so it's understandable that they didn't want to make a tough course, but there's definitely some missed opportunities for fun ending holes. Hole 9 could easily be turned into a long, air it out type hole to finish your round.

The bugs are pretty bad here. We were there in the middle of the day, and even after musking up with bug spray, got attacked pretty voraciously. Bring the good stuff, for sure.

Other Thoughts:

The campground seemed nice enough, with basketball courts, soccer fields, kayaking and many other activities. Plenty of parking near tee 1, which is always nice, although probably somewhat unnecessary, as this course isn't really near anything.

This isn't a bad course, but it's not one you're going to keep coming back to, especially with its location. It's really near nothing. You're either camping here, or a course bagger if you make it here.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

This is your average disc golf course. It starts out with a hole that goes though a playground. The next hole is a field shot with a fairly thick row of trees and grass up the middle which you can either backhand or sidearm around. Holes #3, 4, 5 and 6 are wooded. #3 and #6 only slightly wooded, whereas #4 + #5 are tight "hallway" shots with thicker woods on each side. Then the remaining hole are wide open field shots that "test your arm", but I don't think any are over 300'. This is a nice course because it is out in the country and is normally quiet. This is a great change if you hate being rushed through your play by crowed city courses. Free scorecards are even provided with pencils on the first tee.

Cons:

It is a bit out of the way if you are coming from either Milwaukee or Madison. Also, half of the course is either built on a swamp or near a river or something, meaning that in the spring, or after heavy rain, half there place floods. You may want to try to find out conditions before you commit to the drive.

Other Thoughts:

It is rumored that nine holes are set to be added.
