good for aim practice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 27, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

really have to focus on aim. lots of shots around and through trees. good for beginners, my GF is just getting in DG and the shorter holes made it more fun for her while challenging her to work on her aim

Cons:

really short. but still see the pros.

Other Thoughts:

hole 6 seems to be missing the tee box markers. a sign that showed the layout before you start would be nice.

Nicer than you would think 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Lots of shade, restrooms, clean park

Cons:

If crowded could cause problems with the kids

Other Thoughts:

Went there for the day with the family. We were the only ones there. We were worried because of the challenges, but it was awesome. Me and the wife could par or birdie holes. Even though we didn't because we are new to sport. I liked it enough to make it my go to park since I live in Choctaw. We like that the holes were reachable for us but made us think about the shot.

Nice challenge from this 9 holer 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 17, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has multiple tees and offers a good mix of both left and right dog leg holes.
This course plays in a valley so there is a decent amount of elevation change here.
This course does have some holes where an ACE would not be out of the question.
Good amount of shade and there was a footbridge to help cross the little draw behind #1's basket.
Also there is a playground here too.
I really enjoyed the lines that holes 5 and 6 had.

Cons:

Needs to have a couple more trash cans.
Also the dirt tees might be a problem for some players.
The walk from 7's basket to 8's tee was too long and slowed the flow of the game down.
After you putt out on hole 8 you must walk back down the fairway of 8 to get to 9's tee.
I didn't understand this but it was necessary to make this a 9 hole course I suppose.

Other Thoughts:

This is a pretty solid 9 hole course that reminded me a lot of Little Axe but with elevation. There are good lines here and the option of multiple tees give both the beginner and the more experienced player a look. This course is very close to a school and I could see the school utilizing this course to get the kids hooked on this great sport. If you are passing thru and want to play a round on a decent little 9 holer then hit this course up.

Close and good 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 13, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

A nice little 9 hole. Makes good use of the terrain, so there's a good variation of uphill and downhill shots. Alt tees make for some interesting challenges. Playground in the middle of the park within sight of just about every hole should you take children along who won't be playing with you. Most everything is marked fairly well.

Cons:

The previous reviewer stated "Hole 6 is kind of stupid", I will agree...it is pretty much just a straight on shot into a variety of trees, shrubs, and thorny stuff (I managed to find a nice hole in it on my drive and was able to par it quite easily, but not before I'd snagged my pants on a row of thorns). I found a few different spots that had a fair amount of thorns, so either keep a watchful eye or wear long pants. No water fountains or restrooms, so bring your own beverage and go before you get there. Holes 8 & 9 aren't with the rest of the course; you have to play 1-7 and then go across the parking lot and back a little ways to get to hole 8 and then come back towards the parking lot for 9.

Other Thoughts:

So far it is the closest course to be created near me and it does have some good challenging holes. If you are just getting into the sport, it might be a nice place to work on some of the shots you'd need for a course like Will Rogers (parts of the course remindeded me a bit of Will Rogers in the fact there was a good amount of up and down, though the holes were generally shorter). While most of the tee areas are pretty straight forward, putting numbers on the posts to where you see the numbers from the side you should be teeing off from would help (again 5 & 7 weren't immediately clear to me). Now if we could just get a course in Choctaw Creek Park.

COOL 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 2, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very cool little 9 holer. Everything is labeled very well and very easy to follow. The tees are marked with blue and white posts marking each tee. The navigation is very easy as well for first timers which is always a plus. The dual tees change it up enough making it fun yet challenging. I am a fan of natural pads which they have on this course. There is lots of shade due to most of the course weaving through the trees. There are alot of different shots not only in the park but of most of the holes making for options for everyone playing. The elevation is used very well for being such a small park as well.

Cons:

Hole 6 is kind of stupid. There isnt relly a line and its just a throw it straight and hope it goes through the the big wall of foliage. I am no a fan of Mach 2's which are here but they were ok. The grass was a little tall but not horrible. Lots of the burrs thatare painful when marking you lie or picking up your disc.

Other Thoughts:

My good friend lives minutes away from which is neat because we were about a half an hour away from golf before. It is super cool that a little town put in such an effort with this course. There is a little playground in the area for the little ones that dont want to play golf.
