Putter Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 25, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great course to work on your short game with your putter or other short range disc. Trees vs. tee/basket placement adds difficulty to this course.

Cons:

Course is at an elementary school, so no play during school hours.

Other Thoughts:

Hole one is at the north end of the field.

Wicked but technical 9 hole course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 14, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Very technical, yet short course provides challenges for all levels
2) Great course to work on those wicked approaches
3) Teepads and signs with distances at each hole
4) Course wraps around the fence area which seperates the ball fields from the course
5) A round usually takes no more than 20 minutes, even with the walking
6) Literally right down the street from Penryn DGC, using Taylor Road

Cons:

1) Must wait til school lets out before you can play
2) Course wraps around (holes 1 and 9 are on opposite side of the playing fields) so you must trek back to hole 1 to begin another round

Other Thoughts:

When you park your vehicle in the parking lot, basketball courts, look to the fencing on the right side of the playing field. This is the location of hole 1.

My friend and I played Auburn DGC, then HCP and Penryn DGC, in between our last round at Shady Oaks. Very easy way to play 54, uh 52, since Penryn is only 7 holes. Or maybe 70 if you throw in Rocklin DGC. 72, if you play HCP twice instead of Penryn.

Most of these 9 holes will test how well you are at throwing hallway shots, tight and wide.

A putter or two and maybe a mid might be all you need, but it won't be easy.

At least three holes that are definite ace runs.

Hard Core Practice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 21, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very nice baskets and teepads for such a short and obscure course. Great use of what is otherwise just a backdrop to the large baseball field. Great way to introduce youngsters to the woodsy DG, especially since it's on an elementary school grounds.

Cons:

Basket #1 is missing, with only a tall PVC pipe as a replacement. Pretty dusty grounds with tons of dried up leaves everywhere.

Other Thoughts:

Great place to practice & really hone-in short woodsy approaches and putts. Neat little track, but can't really see myself coming back or even recommending it to anyone. Santa Anita is way better as a short course.
=================
Uniqueness: B+ (not enough courses like this out there)
Difficulty: B (very short; densely wooded)
Fun Factor: B- (can get tricky with the trees)
Aesthetics: B- (low maintenence; some refuse)

Overall: B

Cons:

very short and parking lot does come into play on a few holes.
