Cons:
Biggest issue with this course is the tee pads, it is great that the course has them. however they are very short. Almost too short of a 3 step throw. The issue is that the pad was put on top of the ground instead of being flush. So you literally have to step up 4". On a long hole, this is not easy to do when you normally do a 5 step run up.
Other Thoughts:
I tend to not expect much from a West Texas course. I was pleasantly surprised of coming across a decent course in a small town.
The course is in a park across the Railroad Tracks from the town. Multi use park with sports fields too. The course starts off next to a large pavilion and they do have a port a potty in the parking lot.
It is pretty easy to follow the course, small tee pads with a small sign marking distance and hole number. Mach III baskets that are brand new. In general, the more tree's in the fairway, the shorter the hole, No true par 4 holes, but the course is not a pitch and putt either. The best part of the course is the finishing holes. Hole 15 is pretty wide open, but is a longer hole with the basket on top of the hill. Then hole 16 has you throwing a shot across a ravine to a small green with a barbed wire fence behind it. The best part about this hole is that this area had been mowed when it is not connected to the rest of the course, they had to work to get to that spot.
Then you have a hole throwing back to the edge of the hill and a classic finishing hole, off the top of the hill, over several evergreen trees to a basket that is hidden from the tee. Blind shot that is possible to ace.
Would I play here again? it is a good course, I hated the short tee pads that were raised 4 inches above the ground. I normally use a 5 step run up and really could not do it on this course. If a tournament was held here, I would ask the TD to let players throw from the side of the tee box if possible. Yea, I would like to play another round here.
