Decent park course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 27, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice big tee pads
Very well maintained
Rough is challenging without being so difficult that it's hard to find a disc
Good mix of open field holes and narrow tunnel shots
Easy to navigate
It would be extremely unusual to lose a disc unless it gets stuck in a tree.on #5.

Cons:

The parking lot is on the other side of a soccer field from the first tee, so there is a bit of a hike
7-9 and 11-13 are very close together. 7-9 run up and down adjacent corridors in a grove of trees, they are very close together. 11-13 go up and down a hillside in the same open field. You do need to watch out for incoming discs
There are a lot of fun and interesting holes here but #17 is not one of them. This is a 370-yard par 3 with an immediate hard right turn out of a chute. I imagine a few people can do that but probably should be a par 4 for the average golfer. Add an obstacle near the basket.

Other Thoughts:

This is a very pleasant course with an unusual variety of holes. You have a few park type holes with scattered trees near the parking lot, multiple tunnel shots through woods, and several open air bombs in an empty field. There's even a crazy narrow short par-4 and a fun putter-shot par 3. They also managed to not have to throw across a very busy walking/jogging path, but there are a few holes here it's still best to wait for the pedestrians. The only real problem is that some of the holes are too close together and there is some waiting for other people to play other holes. Some tee pads are right in the firing line of other holes and it's easy to end up in the wrong fairway. There is only 1 tee pad and 1 basket per hole, so most of the baskets are surrounded by dirt. They perhaps could move a few baskets to avoid the regular crossover into the wrong hole. For example, #10 is a good par 3, but the line of play often results in people going into #4. Move the basket around the corner of the woods to the left, and move #11 tee over there as well, to get it out of the way of incoming bombs on #12. #17 should be 100 feet shorter, which would avoid interaction with people playing #18, Anyway, keep your eyes open! It's a nice course though, challenging without anything particularly unfair. There is mention of the baskets in other reviews. They do seem very big and heavy, more solid than what you usually find. The chains do seem to be more resistant to discs and I have had 1 weird spit-out but it's not like it happens every hole. It's a nice place that could use a couple of tweaks. Nobody wants to shorten holes, but for the sake of safety they probably should shorten 4, 10, and 17.

Pretty Place to Practice and Play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 17, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good pads. Good signs. A few fun holes and a few more fun shots. 7 & 8 are tight shots in pine tunnels. Bomb drive on hole 12. Hole 3 is fun tunnel shot. Great course for beginners to learn, advanced players to practice. Very little underbrush to lose discs in.

Cons:

Safety! Holes on top of each other. Jogging path puts pedestrians in harms way. Not much in the way of interesting shots due to nature of property (mostly flat and open). The par 4s seem forced. Some of the par 3s seem a little long for target demographic (beginners).

Other Thoughts:

Design does what it can with boring property. Well maintained by park.

Scenic!
When you're standing at hole 7's tee, look west and see the wind mills along the Susquehanna. In you squint in just the right way you see Kline's Run.

Nice park course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 28, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

It is a nicely maintained course. No real high grass and a good flow from the basket to the next tee pad. I navigated it with no problems.

A good mix of some wooded holes and wide open shots with little in your way.

Cons:

Some repetition on holes like 7, 8 and 9. Those are all wooded tunnel shots and they are all right next to each other. If the course is busy there could be some shots going from one fairway to another.

Other Thoughts:

It was a fun course to play. It was not very busy when I was there so drifting into another fairway was not an issue.

A course with all the shots 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 15, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course is in a beautiful park adjacent to school grounds. The park is secluded and relatively peaceful with a walking path around most of the holes.
This course has just about all the shots. You'll see a lot of technical holes with tight lines. There are a few bombers, and holes that require creativity with technical approaches. I really enjoy the layout and mix of shots. The pine trees offer challenge if you don't hold your line. You'll see some flat holes at the start and finish, but in the middle of the round a nice mix of uphill and downhill shots. Some holes are wide open and blind baskets, with tight green entries.

Cons:

Some holes are very muddy, but this is likely to clear up over time, as the course is relatively new.
The course has a frequently traveled walking path around it, which can be problematic with pedestrians.
Parking isn't clear, but you'll want to be in the school lot and probably not the township parking area.
There is a slight walk to and from the lot as well as from 6 to 7, and back also tracking from 17 to 18. No big deal though.
I've come through the chains on a few baskets; baskets don't appear to be fully chained like a DISCatcher.

Other Thoughts:

Newest course in Lancaster county, designed by locals of the LAFS club. The club has designed some staples in the county, and this course will likely enter into the mix for regular play. Currently, league tag nights are first Wednesday of the month. I'm excited to see how it matures with time.

Random thought: if you're like me with limited time or liking to play over lunch, the hole layout does offer the ability to modify a round to play 9. Tee boxes 2, 4, 11, and 13 are relatively close together.

Definitely a course to hit up if you're traveling through, in addition to Buchmiller, Ship Rock, and Akron.
