I loved this course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great flow and variety. Who ever laid this course out did perfect with the space provided. This is the best course in the area. It is worth going out of your way. Perfect amount of trees. Hard but not to hard. Good elevation changes on some. Deer in the woods. Great signs and baskets. Great flow.

Cons:

none as i see it.

Other Thoughts:

Worth the drive or the stop for sure. 1 is as you enter park turn right.

A challenge for the tree lovers 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Brand New Innova DisCatchers, good layout for the area it's in. Heavily wooded for the back 13 holes will keep your mind in the game and on which disc is the right one for the shot. Definitely need a variety of throws in your skillset. Back hand, flick, anHyzer Hyzer etc.

Though the back 13 holes are heavily wooded, there is paint on the trees to kind of direct you towards the basket.

A lot of OB play comes in around the baskets. A small creek kind of winds its way through the wooded area as well as the front 5, and the layout utilizes this as OB, so it creates even more of a challenge. This course is not for beginners IMO. Very technical, a lot of fun to play though.

I was in the woods for 15 holes, and never saw any poison ivy, oak, or sumac. That is a HUGE plus.

Cons:

The trees can be a bit ominous. There are several holes that you can't see the basket from the tee pad, so I found myself walking the "fairway" (forest) till I spotted the Gold ring. My hope is that eventually they will have the funding to add hole maps at the tee box so you can see where you are headed.

Other Thoughts:

Over all, this is a pretty course, with lots of diversity. Even within the 15 wooded holes, they change the direction of approach making each hole unique. I liked that from one to the next I found myself choosing an overstable disc that worked great on a flick, or an overstable mid range for a back hand drive. Or a long straight tunnel drive that I could HyzerFlip an understable distance driver to make a good run at the basket. Even had a couple an-hyzer shots with my putter to get around the trees and park the basket from the tee-pad. Bring your A-Game!

Wooded (Advanced Course) 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 23, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Can't remember each hole exactly, so this review will be somewhat limited. Apologies...
-Holes 1-5 start off the course in a moderately wooded portion of the park. Tennis courts do not really come into play, except in the case of a poor shot. All these holes, if you choose your lines and hit them, are birdie-able.
-Holes 6-18 move you into the heavily wooded area of the park. Most holes are manageable, giving at least 1 line to the basket. A few holes offer a couple different lines, but most only give 1 way to the basket for a birdie score. I consider this a "pro" and not a "con," for it challenges your shot accuracy.
-For a wooded course, the lengths vary and require not only disc selection, line shaping, but also power control. Pretty cool...
-Highlights are the front 9 birdie collection before the back 13, cool tunnel shot (hole 16 I think?), and the long anhyzer or forehand on 18.
-Great Baskets!
-Well thought out design
-Starts and stops at parking lot
-Clean
-Seems safe...a lot of older guys setting in cars **a little scary**
-I'll give the make-shift bridges over the creeks a pro, for at least you're not jumping over them, but they won't last. Good sturdy bridges with handrails need to be implemented before long.

Cons:

(I expect most of this to change as the course develops. From my understanding, it's nearly brand new)

-No trash cans
-Less the desirable T-Pad
-Poor signs and directions (paper ones were already folding and falling off. Maybe staple laminated ones to the trees.

Other Thoughts:

Going to be in town for a couple weeks and have already played Hinsley 3 times. I'll be returning tomorrow morning and this next week for a few more rounds.
It's a pretty good course, but not for the disc golf beginner. This is an advanced course for advanced players who have both a backhand and forehand game. ...that is, unless you don't mind playing consistent "bogey" golf.
NOTE: Even for the advanced player, several holes are designed to afford birdie looks only if your T-shot is executed perfectly.
All in all, I like the course, but would suggest a couple small "tree-trims" on only 1 or 2 holes. Then again, I'm not a big fan of offering "Pitch & Putt" shots every other hole. So... Good course! I'll play when I'm in the area.
