Solid HOA Course!

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 20, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Holiday Lakes is a private community with an upscale feel to it. The HOA installed a course here, and it was surprisingly fun!

The environment is very unique. The course winds around a hilly area of the neighboorhood, with a creek and lake coming into play on several holes. Tees are large white bricks in the ground, with the hole number and direction to the basket.

While it's private, there won't be an issue coming here to play. It's not a gated community, so you can drive on in and play if you want to.

Nice variety in distance. Not sure about the exact measurements, but holes are probably between 175 and 500 feet.

Great use of the elevation and water that's present.

Feels like a ball golf course! Some holes have well defined fairways, and the upkeep is outstanding.

There's a few technical holes, and a few where you can air it out. Very nice mix for a 9-holer.

The lodge/restaurant has discs available for free rental. You can also pick up a scorecard and a map there.

Baskets are fairly new, and catch really well.

Makes a loop back to the starting point so you can play it again if you want to.

There are some really fun holes here. I would welcome #9 on any course. Steep downhill shot that has the lake to the right of the basket, and a creek in front. Really fun hole.

Private, secluded area with rolling hills and scattered trees. Can't beat it! Place is in perfect shape.

Cons:

#3 throws over the tee for #6. There was only one other group on the course, but still something to put in cons.

You have to park about a 1/4 mile from the first tee at the lodge. You might be able to park on the street next to the first tee, but do so at your own risk.

Natural tees, and no signage. Make sure you get a map from the lodge, you'll likely need it.

Other Thoughts:

I had no idea what to expect coming here. There are no reviews or photos on Holiday Lakes, as it's a "private" course.

Honestly, I played the course three times in a row. The intrigue of hitting an ace, with a few Long holes mixed in, made me crave more.

Sure it might be pretty simple, but this is such an oddly fun course for me. I'd love to live in this neighborhood!

If you decide to come out, make sure you're respectful and keep the place clean. Since it is a private area, you could get in trouble for being rambunctious.

I'd definetly recommend you check this place out. See below for hole by hole directions if you aren't able to get a scorecard from the lodge.

When you turn into the Holiday Lakes neighboorhood, keep going straight for about 1/2 a mile until you see a building with a large parking lot (on your right side). If you wish, go in and ask for a map. They also have free disc rentals.

Now, start walking the way you drove in (about 1/4 mile down the road). You should see a basket down a hill on the left side of the road. Right next to that basket is the first tee.

Hole #1 plays along the creek and up the hill. Straight shot into the pine trees. The 2nd tee is to the left of the lake, close to the 1st basket.

Hole #2 is a straight shot that plays along the lake. You should see the basket near the clump of trees straight ahead. The #3 tee is on top of that hill, behind the #2 basket.

Hole #3 is a steep downhill shot through the trees. You'll see the basket near the entrance and highway. Take a left and walk down the main road to #4.

Hole #4 is the longest hole on the course. It plays along side the road. Basket is towards the treeline, straight ahead. Hole #5 is across the creek, slightly backtracking towards the last tee.

Hole #5 plays right back towards the basket for #2. This basket is on the hill. #6 is about 20 feet in front of the tee for #3.

Hole #6 is another downhill shot. The basket is bsced up against a creek down the hill. #7 is to the left.

Hole #7 plays along the creek, towards the bridge. Slight turn to the left. #8 is across the bridge to your right, near the creek.

#8 follows the gravel path up the hill, straight ahead. #9 is on that hill, facing the street.

#9 is really fun. You throw down the hill towards the road. There is a lake to the right of the basket, and a creek in front.

To get back to the parking lot, go up the hill behind the basket and make a right. Walk about a 1/4 a mile, the lot and lodge is on your right.
