Pros:
- 9 Permanent metal baskets.
- Level cement tee pad on each hole.
- Located in a well maintained city park right next to the Heart River.
- Some nice shots forcing line shaping through the trees.
- Tee signs with hole number and distance.
- Well designed for recreational use with manageable distances for every hole. While the water is close, it doesn't offer much risk to golfers.
- Free to play.
Cons:
- The baskets are in poor repair. They are also a strange design and dont catch well at all. To be fair, they catch some, one of our group aced hole #9...somehow...
- No course map. It flows pretty well and the tee signs have numbers so it's tough to get too lost. That said, a map is always appreciated for first timers.
- Not much elevation in the park. Even a rec. course deserves a little bit of up and down.
Other Thoughts:
Really, a fine little rec course for a city park, just not a lot of upside. The baskets are something terrible but the actual golf is decent short range fun. We rolled in having last looked when it had a .5 disc rating and were going to play it just to snag another pelt and have a good laugh. Jaycees Park was a pleasent surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed the quick spin in a beautiful little park by the river. Well worth your 15-20 minutes if you're in town and have the time.
