good going on great 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 16, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The VARIETY of shots required here is incredible; it has it all...long, short, wooded, open, water, uphill and downhill.

The layout on this land makes it a very challenging course. Hole 10 plays up the side of a mountain after a 220 foot tee shot. Do not go right on this hole!

The new large cement tee pads are a drastic improvement. New tee signs are
helpful if you don't know the course.

A few pro par 4's makes it not beginner friendly which is a plus in my book.

It plays mostly in the shade which is a plus since this course can be taxing to walk/play.

In early June 2009 the park grass was cut very nicely. The park is very clean,
I saw no litter at all.

Cons:

Still a few muddy spots around and footing in places can be difficult once you
get off the tee.

A few more next tee signs or arrows would be helpful.

Other Thoughts:

yes, we had a biker appear behind us out of nowhere but he was returning a disc that I had threw in the middle of Jordan Creek earlier in the day. Amazing!

Walk past and left of tee 16 to get to 15,
this is not a con but a quirk.

Hole 18 is very tricky playing over the creek twice. I suggest three approach shots, forget using a driver on this one.

I've seen plenty of changes here at Jordan over the years and it simply gets better and better.

Mixed bag but a real challenge 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 28, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A few unique holes to really challenge you: Heart attack hill, the gorgeous double-creek finishing hole, the pond. Immaculately groomed fairways with unforgiving rough...this is how it should be! Mix of open and woods, with some crazy elevation changes. Gorgeous scenery. Perfect concrete teepads. Big fields nearby for practice, a putting practice basket by a hill and trees to test all your putts, and a great BBQ dive bar a few miles down the road ("Grumpys"). And for fans of par 4s, there is some decent length on a few of these holes.

Cons:

Repetition: 1 and 2 are the same hole, except that 2 has trees. 11 and 12 are the same hole, with only about 40 feet different. 15 and 16 are also remarkably similar, even going up the same hill (requiring backtracking). There's plenty of space out here, couldn't they find room for variety on these? Pond hole 7 has no alternate tee or bail-out area, making the hole unplayable for beginners. No alternate tees or pin positions anywhere, for that matter, further stifling variety. Hole 10 really needs stairs or something to help us walk up the hill. Next Tee directions would be very helpful.

Other Thoughts:

Despite the objections above, the pros far outweigh the cons, and I find myself looking forward to coming back here soon. Bring plenty of bug spray in the summer... the gnats are horrible! And as always bring plenty of water. You'll be very far from your car on holes 9-16 and very tired, with no drinking water around. **Upgraded to 4 stars after playing it again. This course is exactly my speed right about now.**

Amazed this Course is in Allentown 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 27, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Despite being in allentown this course is fantastic. I would have never expected to find a course along a creek, in a seemingly compleltly wooded area (even tho your right in the middle of allentown). Cement tee's are a great addition to this course. The course provides a great variety between openness, woods, and water. (watch out for the pond)

Cons:

Some days mountian bikers come out of no where.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 20, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Beautiful lush fairways and trash barrels at every tee. Sometimes you walk across dirt hike/bike trails which look like normal DG fairways to access the next hole which is alive with green (this was Sept). Very nice pond thorw which is always a plus in my book. 10 is the only killer hole up a dirt access road. Reminded me of something from Devens, Ma. After that there are a string of more traditional wooded holes with 2 more I would describe as lush (13/14). 18 is a 30' drop monster across one arm of the river with a right turn to face an island green across another arm of the river.

Cons:

Tees looked like flypads with carpet on top...and it was torn. Pretty dangerous. I hope that gets fixed. No signs at tees though even if we didn't have a map we would have been ok to find every hole. #14's basket was uprooted an fallen when we played.

Other Thoughts:

The very first hole lays the tempo. This course is all about control. Not extremely technical or long but you have to control your throws or you will end up in thick rough (but not as thorny as Lehigh's rough). Great balance of right/left bending fairways.

I nearly proposed to the front 9 of this course. I can't wait to play here again.

Very good course. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 25, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Variety is the key here. you'll need all the shots to get a low score on this one. The water hazzards are awesome. (probably wouldn't like them as much if I had lost plastic!)

Cons:

The tee pads still need new carpet on many of them. one of my buddies caught his foot on one during a drive and fell down. The front 8 or 10 holes have signs showing the directions to the next tee. the rest in the back don't and we skipped right over 15. also there's no tee signs on any holes to show pin placement. I guess once you've muddled thru the first time you'd know. several holes have hidden pin location that cannot be seen from the tee.

Other Thoughts:

This course is very fun and challenging, I will definately try to make it back again in the future!

A fun stop 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 27, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Good hole variety, unique in the sense that some holes have you throwing through fairly open alleys in the woods. Great variety in terrain and also well maintained.

Cons:

Lack of signage made for a bit of confusion finding some holes. Tee pads were hurting as well.

Other Thoughts:

Jordan will have you throwing over water, hiking hills and playing some really interesting holes. There's really something for everyone here and it's a guaranteed good time.

If you're a first timer here (as I was) I'd recommend a spotter for some holes if you really want to "go for it" as a bad shot will end up in the woods a lot of the time.
