- A really nice park with beautiful old trees scattered all over the place
- Water is not scary, just a creek that presents an inconvenience on several holes
- Tee pads and baskets in decent shape

- Very few interesting holes... nothing very long, no doglegs, only one or two tight tunnels or gaps
- On a windy day, this course was somehow even windier

This was a nice walk through a well-maintained and popular park. Stunning, huge, old trees are everywhere. Look around a lot; it was a great course to play in the Fall! The big drawback is that almost every basket is just right out there in front of you, about 275-325 straight ahead. Yes, there are some elevation changes and of course the trees, and the nice creek... look, it's a really nice park, but the course is sometimes a little boring.

- NATURAL BEAUTY - A really nice looking park in a beautiful neighborhood. There are rolling meadows, a meandering 6 foot wide creek and large oak trees. There are really no major drawn backs in terms of its beauty. All the holes visually look around average or better. That stated, none of the holes here have 5 star looks either. No cliff faces, carved wooded fairways, or large tranquil water features here like at the courses I've scored much higher.
- ELEVATION - I was surprised by the amount of elevation on this course. It has to be one of the hillier courses in state of Illinois. That stated, the elevation is very approachable. The slopes are never more than 20 degrees and the max any one hole dives or rises is around 35 feet. Holes (3) and (8) are both really fun 30 to 35 foot down shots with a winding creek lurking just beyond the basket.
- CHARACTER - Above average. The tee pads are concrete and adequately sized. There is good hole signage showing hole layout, obstacles, and distance. There is a community board with course map and league info. There are shelters with picnic tables at a couple locations in the park and there is seating at about 40 percent of the tees. Missing items include alternate basket locations and multiple tees.
- NAVIGATION - I took a picture of the course map and had no issues. Please note that there are only one set of tees that are marked, the white tees.
- SKILL LEVEL FRIENDLY - Although only one concrete tee per hole, the skills required should allow a nice challenge for intermediate players and also fair enough for rec players, These two groups make up the largest portion of the disc golf community.
- MAINTENANCE - The park was in immaculate shape. The grounds appeared to be constantly mowed, trimmed and manicured. I don't recall seeing any trash on my visit.
- LOCATION - Katherine Legge is a quick pit stop off the highway. Less than a ten minute drive from the I294 exit. In addition, the area the course is in is quite upscale. There are several million dollar mansions within a stone's throw of the course.

Other than some duel use issues, Katherine Legge doesn't have any pronounced issues.
- WALKING PATHS - There are five or six tee shots with the potential of running a disc onto a waking path. The park appears to get a lot on non disc golf traffic, so waiting to throw for safety reason is likely going to occur during prime times.
- COULDN'T FIND EXTRA TEES - The course map and hole signage indicates 3 tees or 2 tees at many holes. However, on my play I did see any extra ones. They are either no such extra tees or they are so hard to find that only the locals can spot them.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - With the one set of tees seeming to be all the middle or back locations, I saw this course reading at about average for difficulty when playing it par 54. For my skill level, Intermediate, I found the course to be a par fest. The holes were just long enough and it was just windy enough, where I couldn't get but a couple drives within twenty feet of the basket. I could see an advanced player shooting 8 to 10 down (par 54) on a light wind day. Shop shaping is limited and the length of a drive will be the biggest factor in going low.
- UNIQUENESS - The variety here is a touch below average. First off, way too many open to lightly wooded holes for my taste. Only one hole, (15) has anything that sort of resembles a tunnel shot and there are no dogleg or pocket shots. In general, the basket guarding is light to moderate. On a positive note, lots of interesting creek plays and some decent elevation for an Illinois course (see pros)
- WIND - Since most of the holes have very few trees, wind may be an issue. I was personally greeted with 15 to 20 mph gusts for my round, on what was supposed to be a light wind day.

Katherine Legge is a great looking city park course that I think most would personally love to have in their back yard. If the course had all the tees that were indicated by the hole signage and course map, I think I would score this course above a 3.25, and thus a 3.5 rating on DGCR. With the extra tees it would really drive home the element of skill level friendliness from rec thru advanced rather than just an intermediate level course. No doubt a course worth checking out if your passing thru the Chicago area on I294, especially if you don't have the time to detour and check out highly rated Canyons or Fairfield.
- TIME PLAY - I think this course will fall right in the middle in the time to run a full round. I estimate 100 to 120 minutes for group of four. Neither a pro or a con in IMO.

-well maintained, clean park in a very wealthy area of Chicagoland
-open design allows for variety in tee shots. no holes have "must hit" lines. You can get creative and throw the whole bag, or stay simple and throw only your best shots from the tee
-most holes have elevation change. good mix of uphill and downhill holes
-several ace runs always add to the excitement of a round here
-well marked maps at each white tee box. Every hole has red, white, blue tees, although many are combined into one. easy layout to follow with good flow. very hard to get turned around.
- small creek comes into play on many holes (i think about 8 or 9 use this water). This creek is small and very easy to get a disc from. Almost zero chance of losing a disc here

-busy, busy, busy. Being a multi use park, expect to see non-discers in your way sometimes. joggers, dog walkers, photographers, and picnicers usually have no clue they are in the middle of a course so keep an eye out. One day there was even a cross-country race in the park that shut down about 9 holes.
-although there is variety in hole layout, there is no variety in throws required. (pretty much don't hit the first tree next to the tee and you are good for the hole). can get to easy/ repetitious for better players
-bad shots are too easy to recovery from (could be a plus for some, but imo bad shots should negatively influence your score). You can throw two fairways over and still have a good look at par

Overall Katherine Legge Memorial Park is an amazing park that contains a fairly average disc golf course. The designer did a great job with the land given and the fact that it is multi use to the max, but the holes lack any "wow factor" for me to give it a higher rating.
I recommend anyone who is in the western suburbs go play this course, but to me it isn't worth a long drive

This course had a great atmosphere, very clean nice park. Most of the holes were fairly open, but there are nice big trees to break things up a little. The average distances were in the 260-350ft range which is a pretty comfortable length for almost anyone. A few holes play around a small creek, so that comes into play on a few approaches. The course actually uses some elevation change well too.

I played on a weekday in the spring, so it wasn't terribly busy... but I get the feeling that in the summer all of the park traffic/activities could make this course a long, frustrating 18 holes. It skirts past a soccer field on one hole, and weaves around a walking path. But there is an unpaved jogging circuit that actually goes right through several of the fairways! I had to stop my drive mid step because people went running down the full length of my fairway! Also there is no real need for shaping any shots here, just avoiding the occasional obstacle. To be fair, the course is laid out pretty well all things considered. Some sloppy tees too.

This course is in an interesting area for a disc golf course, Hinsdale seems like a very upscale neighborhood. This is certainly not a bad thing, as there are a few cool old buildings situated on the park, it was just unexpected.

You like squirrels? Come to KLM cause there are some fattie squirrels there. You can tell these guys are used to people as they let me get within a few feet of them as I walked on by.
The park is well manicured and has a small creek meandering through the front 9 holes and then again on hole 18. Pockets of old growth trees here and there are in play on several holes forcing you to choose a lane...a big plus at an otherwise wide open course. Gentle elevation shifts add to the enjoyment of the game and help to add to the beauty of this public park.
Multiple tee positions on many holes with the tee sign at the white (or middle) position. Look in the ground for the tee markers if you want to tee from the red or blue positions if available on the hole.
Generally easy to navigate. I spotted blue tape on some of the pins to indicate the direction to the next tee...but really you can just look around and you'll see the next pad.
The design is really tight IMHO...I was impressed overall and would say that this is a beginner friendly course that appeals to the experienced player as well.

On fair weather days this park will explode with activity. This is a multi-use park and you will see people hangin' about doing one thing or another. While I was there, I spotted an ultimate game in full swing near holes 9 and 10. Families were playing disc golf (great for them but can slow down the flow a lot) and a couple of girls were hunting around for something at hole 17...they didn't seem to know that I was waiting for them to move on. Basically, if you want to hit this course either be prepared for the slowness or go on a bad weather day...honestly.
Teepads are natural and after rain or snow thaw these are going to be very muddy...on dry days, as the pads are pretty flat and level, I don't see this as an issue for me and I won't be dinging the rating based on that.

Beautiful buildings, a lovely little creek, old growth manicured trees, solid design that fits with the land, bridges, tee signs, multiple tee positions... I walked away knowing that I will return...
The only notable issues are muddy teepads (rain or snow thaw) and of course the slowness of play on fair weather days.
Note: "Legge" is pronounced just like "leg"... FYI

This course is close to Chicago and located in a very nice dog park in a very rich suburg. The course offers a lot of different shots and about 4 pretty challenging holes to even a good disc golfer. The rest of the holes are fun, but fairly easy and short. This is a great course to take beginning disc golfers because there is almost zero chance of loosing a disc (though you may have to go fishing in the shallow creek that runs through the middle), and in addition the course is primarily under 300ft/ hole. Few trees, but the ones that are there are very old and established and provide decent challenge in the summer when the leaves have come in full. Hole 15 I believe is a very challenging shot through thick trees, but is the only hole of its kind on the course.

The course is pretty short, and pretty easy. For an experienced disc golfer you can drive just about every pin, and the trees don't offer too much of a challenge. Also the tee pads are natural so during the spring and after it rains they get pretty muddy. Though the dog park is nice, watch where you step because the invetible excriment is scattered throughout the course.

This is one of my favorite course this close to Chicago. Living in the city if you want to disc in the western suburbs your best options this far away are either this course, or Madison Meadows in Lombard. This course offers more shot varieties, and greater elevation changes, however, because of the distance of the couse I find Madison Meadows more of a challenge. Also I have found that Katherine Legge gets quite crowded during the summer with kids and families that play fairly slow, so be prepared to wait.

- KLM's located in a spacious park in the 'burbs. Lovely trees, rolling hills, grassy fields, and a small creek comprise the course. Most holes have enough trees to force players to hit specific lines, but with the exception of #15, nothing gets too tight. The course is nicely balanced, with plenty of variety between hole styles. There's downhill shots over creeks (#17), tight hallway style wooded holes (#15), uphill bombs (#'s 2, 12, 18), and a downhill shot with a fast green and the creek behind the basket (#8).
- Outstanding use of both elevation and water. The best parts of the property were definitely utilized to their full potential. Nowhere is this more obvious than the holes with both water and elevation in play. The small creek creates a nice water hazard without really any risk of losing a disc.
- Distances are well-balanced. Red, white, and blue tees offer options for players of varying skill. From 180 ft. on #17 red to 515 ft. on #9 blue, noodle arms and big gun players alike will find plenty to challenge them.
- The course has adequate tee signs and good "next tee" signage.
- The course is pretty. Beautiful trees, well-manicured lawn, and a nice surrounding neighborhood all add to the attraction of this course. While definitely not the deep woods natural beauty I prefer, KLM is plenty easy on the eyes for a city/suburban course.

- Right now the tees are finely crushed gravel from the whites and natural at both red and blue tees. While not a major issue at the moment (due to the relative newness of the course), these will eventually become rutted messes. Anything less than concrete tees are always a minor drawback to a course in my eyes.
- I can see this course having crowding issues in the summer with the surrounding neighborhoods, the banquet/reception building(s?), and the dog-walkers.

- Overall, KLM is a very nice addition to this area of Chicagoland disc golf. Eighteen solid holes of fun if not necessarily outta-this-world-spectacular disc golf. Not a destination course but certainly a very solid option if you're in the area.
