Pros:

This course at Kayak Pt resort is another well appointed, pretty layout. Being on an old ball golf course the fairways are already well established, there are cart paths and it is as nice a course as you can ask for as far as looks. Tee pads are well done turf with (mostly) great signs.
There is good use of elevation change, especially on #12 and 13 as fun downhills and 6 as a good link hole going uphill.
16 is a longer left onto the hill with 17 a short hole in the woods, good to see the woods being used, necessary to add some interest to this type of course.
Aptly called a resort, nice pro shop with restaurant coming.

Cons:

There are a few. Par info is off on a couple holes, score card is correct. Layout is a little odd, long walkouts between 4/5 and13/14. Signage is pretty good for these but there are a couple spots where you are close to the Gold course and next tee signs are in-obvious or non-existent.
Price. I will say it again, price. Having talked to the owners, they have the higher price because they say you can throw multiple rounds in a day. I don't think I CAN throw multiple rounds here in a day. 8k ft for their shortest course is already almost 2 rounds depending on the course. Worse, they don't trust us to be honest and sell one round tickets.
Finally, 10 par 4s. I get having an Am course here but if that is the case 8k ft is awfully long. This is one of my least favorite types of layout, long just to be long and some of the holes show it. Long, open and not particularly interesting.

Other Thoughts:

So, this is a cool, pretty place to play. Worth hitting if money isn't a concern. I liked it and will probably play again but not often at all. There are 2 more courses planned here, I really look forward to see what their blue course will be. Hopefully will make good use of the ample woods.
Group ahead of me were there early, took a break for lunch, and were going out for another round. The way to go here if you are up for it.
Rating. This is tough for me so some explanation is called for. Pretty, well appointed, about as nice as you will run into. That being said, I really was underwhelmed overall on length, par, and hole variety. I understand the 4s given, would be a 3 personally on my enjoyment but I know that is low. Personal take has to figure in, within reason, so going with 3.5. This was cemented by playing another new course in area on old ball course that I think did a better job overall.
