Pros:

The disc golf course at Kuemmel park traverses the hills around the road into the park. Park down at the bottom by the pavillion. Head toward the hill and the first 4'x4' sign post you see will be for hole 1. The course winds around the hill after that, ending near hole 1. Or pretty close at least.

The baskets are homemade. Single row of chains and a very shallow (4" deep or so) cage. Wire mesh bottom to the cage. These aren't the greatest things around obviously. They caught pretty well for though. Number plates on the top help to determine the correct basket.

The tee signs have just a yellow placard with the hole number, par and distance. You don't really need much more since all the baskets are visible from the tee areas, except hole 2, which is over a slight hill. It's pretty easy to find your way around though. I had no issues. May have been blind luck but whatever.

There are a smattering of mature trees on a few holes. A few are wide open. But all have some type of rollaway potential. Very sloped fairways and greens. Lots of elevation used to form your biggest challenge. A couple uphill and downhill shots with the rest playing across the hill.

The course is free and permanent. Probably will never see another soul there. On the course at least. The park was mowed and maintained well.

The design of the course is actually really good for the little park it's in. I had a fun, quick round here. Good distances for beginners and families for the most part.

Cons:

The baskets aren't the greatest. Probably the biggest con here. Like I said, they caught well for me, but that won't be the case 99% of the time. I was just on my game I guess. A few are leaning pretty badly too, which doesn't help matters any.

Navigation has the potential to be a bit tricky. If you've played more than a handful of courses and can find hole 1 you should be alright though.

The tee signs: even an arrow pointing toward the basket would help. Like I said though, you'll figure it out. As Cerealman said in the previous review there's no way hole 2 is over 300 feet. The others may be off too but are right in front of you. Won't take most more than a putter or mid to reach.

Other Thoughts:

I played this just because I was sort of in the area. There's not much else around besides the Fayette course, which is much better. So if for some reason you're near here, I'd skip this one. If you have to play it, it won't take more than a half hour or so. I'd bump it up a half disc if the baskets were better, but it's the definition of passable as is.

Good design in Glasgow 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 2, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Situated a mile from the banks of the Missouri River, the Kuemmel Park DGC pops up in the tiny town of Glasgow. Seemingly on the edge of nowhere, the course offers nine holes that are short on distance but long on elevation. Mostly open and easy to navigate, the Kuemmel Park DGC is a nice course for novices in a disc-golf-only portion of the park.

Most of the holes range from 180 to 240 feet in distance with the only outlier, Hole #2, being measured at 381 feet (though it seemed shorter). However, most of the holes offer elevation changes - Holes #3 and #8 are the shortest holes but they both require uphill throws. And Hole #9 is a fantastic finishing hole - the downhill design will likely require a fun RHBH hyzer toss around a monster tree.

Navigation is straight forward. Most of the tee signs are located an appropriate, easy-to-see distance from the previous basket.

The fairways are completely grass and there are minimal areas of rough - the main exception being some woods on the left-hand side of Hole #2.

Cons:

Holes #4 through #9 are shoehorned into the same field, which could cause some congestion if multiple parties are visiting the course. With elevation a factor, errant shots could interfere with other players.

The homemade baskets were mediocre. The basket portion was only about half-a-disc deep, making bounce-outs very possible. Also, the top of the basket featured a six-spoke roof, which allows a disc to enter the single-layer of chains through the top (see photo for example).

The natural teepads might be a bit tricky. Some of the holes are in a sloped area, and the respective teepad areas were not level. Precipitation would make teepad conditions slightly treacherous.

Cell phone coverage might be lacking. I was unable to access my favorite scorekeeping app (DGCR, of course!) while playing.

Other Thoughts:

This is an enjoyable little course. While my rating is influenced by the course lacking teepads and featuring inferior baskets, the Kuemmel Park DGC offers a fun design and is an excellent choice for families. The course appears to be well-maintained, allowing for quick rounds in a peaceful environment.
