Good place for a tournament 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 4, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Private course that hosts three or four tournaments a year, with a good mix of woods and open holes. A couple of holes have water features and are shallow enough that lost discs are rare. Decent variety of hole lengths and hole shapes. Clubhouse featuring a large-screen TV that makes an excellent scoreboard for tournaments. Owner that is dedicated to disc golf.

Cons:

The biggest knock on this course is the luck factor here. It's one of those courses where you get the feeling that the best player doesn't always win. Most of the wood holes are extremely narrow and you can kick into good areas off the fairway or bad areas where you can't recover. Mostly flat.

Other Thoughts:

La Cote is off the beaten path but it is interesting enough to consider playing a tournament out there when you get the opportunity.

Leave your distance drivers at home.. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 28, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great variety of holes: Short, long, tightly wooded, open, elevation, water, island green, etc. This course literally has it all.. You definitely need have your putter working around the green to score well. Great piece of land & an even better use of what was available. Loved it.

Cons:

Tee signs with the hole layout & footage would help 1st timers like myself, but that would be my only "complaint".

Other Thoughts:

I heard quite a few complaints about Hole 2, but I had birdie looks both rounds (even though they weren't "close") but I liked the challenge of the design. I hope the rumors of the new course are true. Can't wait until next year.

You won't be disappointed 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 15, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

A variety of tight, wooded holes and a few larger open fairways make this course a joy to play. A lot of thought and detail were put into the design of each hole. Tee pads are natural and fit right in with the landscape. While there are other tight, finesse courses in Louisiana, there are none with quite the rustic appeal of La Cote.

Cons:

Navigation can be tricky, especially for anyone unfamiliar with the course.

Other Thoughts:

Got to play a tournament here recently and loved every moment on the course. The designer also had the opportunity to explain all the history of the land which lent itself to the name of each hole. Like the other review stated, this course is on private land and permission is required in order to play. Looking forward to seeing continued growth of this course. There are even plans for a new hole to go in.

worth the drive 2+ years drive by

Other Thoughts:

This peaceful course has a good blend of tight wooded fairways and open fields, and a good mix of hyzer and anhyzer shots. Good control of your drives is essential to score well in the narrow tree lined fairways and smart play is a must to avoid high numbers. Beautiful scenery and local history add to the charm and laid back appeal of this private course. Some holes are still being fine tuned, but it is essentially finished with just some grooming of the fairways left. Please respect that this is on private property and permission is needed to play. You may have to drive a little to get to this course but you will be happy you did.
