Unbelieveable 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 15, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

• Holes are challenging, yet doable.
• Great use of terrain-- hole lengths coincide well with uphill/downhill holes.
• Great use of trees creating great flight paths to hit
• Unbelievable views of Lake Dillon and the surrounding mountains.

Cons:

• A little hard to navigate hole-to-hole, but this is being worked out with more signage, etc.
• Tee pads were a bit short to me

Other Thoughts:

Being a thin-blooded Easterner, it took about 6 holes to stop sucking wind, but even for the locals, this course is a pretty good workout. The terrain is pretty extreme, but you get a good warmup from the 10 minute hike up the mountain to the first tee box. The course is still very new, so signage is pretty sparse...hole numbers and lengths are on red circular tags at each tee. Some of the tags specify par, but not all of them do. On the hole info here, it says hole 8 is a par 4 at 533 ft. That sounds pretty reasonable, but you lose I'd say at least 100 ft. of elevation if not more from tee to basket, making it very reachable as a par 3. I cranked my Fever out into the sky and came up one about 35 ft. short of the pin...and I by no means can throw 500 ft. Hole 16 is 420 ft. generally uphill bending right the whole way and marked here as a par 3. It would take a monster forehand over tall pines uphill to get to the pin, so in my opinion this would be the par 4 instead of 8.

Anyway, unbelievably breathtaking (literally) course. If you're passing through it's a must pay for sure.

Super fun course with spectacular views 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 11, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

One of the first things you will see is a practice basket near the parking lot, always a plus. As you make your way up the hill to #1 tee you will begin to see the awesome views unfold. While the course is fairly wooded in parts, the basket placements are strategically placed so you don't have to walk up the entire hole to find the pin. Shot varieties and gorgeous views keep players entertained throughout the course. Short enough to have a run at several baskets but wooded and long enough to be a fair challenge as well. Nice Discatchers do the job and can be seen from afar. Concrete tees will keep them from getting rutted badly with lots of traffic or adverse weather. The locals were very helpful in guiding us to the next tee. There is a course map at the practice area, you will want to stop here and gather info before starting for the first time.

Cons:

I will try not to give too many cons since I'm sure this course is still being worked on as of my review date. Once the hole signs are installed, finding the next basket/tee will be much easier. While getting concrete tees installed on the side of a mountain is no easy task, some are short enough to actually make the hole more difficult by limiting the run up or follow through. Again, no easy task to have concrete up there at all, so thank you thank you!

Other Thoughts:

Bring some comfy shoes, a camera, plenty of water and get ready for some fun. This course was a blast, and there were some of the most beautiful views I have seen on a course as well. Quickly becoming one of my new favorites. Thanks for getting this approved and installed!

Incredible space, great variety of shots 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 20, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Good mix of up and down; not too 'up' on the uphill shots.
- The views are unparalleled
- Nice balance of sidearm and backhand specific drives
- Great exercise for you and your canine friends...it's a beautiful walk
- Nine month season (pretty sweet at 9,000 ft)

Cons:

- Wind can be a factor (it's a mountain course, after all)
- Keep an eye on your discs...until the sage gets beat in a bit more, your plastic can disappear

Other Thoughts:

- Heads up out there! It's a multi-use space, and there are people around. With a little patience and common sense, there shouldn't be any trouble...
- Respect the space! Garbage cans are few, so pack out your trash!

Great Alternative to Peak One! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 2, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great views from just about every hole. Huge elevation changes. Lots of downhill bombs as well as several tight technical holes. Yes, there is a 10 minute walk from the parking lot, but it's a great way to get the blood flowing rather than playing a few warm up holes. Great mix of downhill, level, up hill, technical, bombs and amazing scenery throughout! And 2 cool little chill out tee-pees on hole 4 i think it was and again on the back half around hole 12 or 13 i think.

Cons:

Any issues with this course may change in the future since at the time of this review the course is less than 2 months old.

Very few benches or places to sit down, as well as trash cans. (very minor issue)

Some of the tee pads are close to the previous basket, which isn't a big deal if you're paying attention to your surroundings.

The 10 minute walk to the first hole, but as i mentioned in the pro's, it could be a good thing too.

Other Thoughts:

This course is easily a 4 with the potential of being a 4.5 or more, depending on what kind of development is done to the surrounding area. This place is a great compliment to Peak One over in Frisco, about a 10 minute drive away. I will definitely be back to play again.

Lake Dillon DGC will not dissapoint 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 19, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Takes advantage of the available elevation. Incredible views of Lake Dillon and surrounding landscape. Unlike Peak One course, this one is remote and there is very little hazard of hitting non-players in the area. Variety of short and long holes, uphill and downhill shots, wide open and narrow forest shots, and plenty of opportunities to get into trouble on every hole. The course is strenuous (some may say that's a con), bring lots of water and a snack. I love hole #8, it's a lot of fun to rip a drive off a cliff!

Cons:

It's new, so the tees are dirt, some are flatter than others. A couple odd spots in the layout where you could potentially land your disc on another holes tee.

Other Thoughts:

It's nice to have another option in this area, Peak One course is decent, but overcrowded. This will help spread out the traffic some. I do not recommend bringing a beginner here, this is aimed at intermediate to advanced players.

A work in progress 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 7, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

1. A nice variety of shots and a good mix of distances.
2. Some very wide open holes and some tight fairways, with plenty of elevation changes.
3. A few long, down hill throws in which you can really let rip.
4. Very scenic course, beautiful views of Lake Dillon and the surrounding mountains.
5. Navigation from hole to hole is good, there are already well beaten paths.
6. Nice new shiny Discather baskets.
7. Mostly flat, big natural tee pads. Good chance they will put in permanent tee's later on
8. Plenty of chances to really huck your disc.
9. Practice basket with big, wide open putting area.
10. Geared more towards intermediate to advanced players.

Cons:

1. There's a 10 minute, mostly uphill hike to the first tee in which you cross 2 fairways.
2. There's potential to get hit with a stray disc with the basket and tee layouts.
3. Layout will be an issue on busy days, tee's are close to baskets and you have to walk across or back towards fairways of other holes.
4. Your likely to have to wait for the group in front of you tee off due to the possibility of hitting them.
5. Some tall and thick sage brush can make disc locating difficult on the long/blind throws.
6. A very steep downhill trail with loose rock from the tee of #8.
7. No hole maps, but distances are at least written on a rock on the tee.
8. Wind can reak havoc and really get a hold of your disc.

Other Thoughts:

The course is still in development, only 11 of the 18 baskets are currently in. Overall the course plays well, challenging with good distances and plenty of elevation change. Biggest complaint is the layout, you'll want to keep your head on a swivel, discs can come at you from every direction. Its a bit rough yet but I expect the minor complaints to be improved as the course gets finished and played more.
