Why are my favorite 9 holers in the middle of nowhere? 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 5, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Long and challenging, only 3 holes less than 300' and they have considerable challenges
-Nice Innova baskets
-Detailed signs with distance, par, hole location and map
-In a more secluded part of underutilized park
-A good amount of trees but not too many that luck is a real factor
-Wind can make this course even more of a challenge
-Nicely mown fairways
-Course is well maintained and looks nice as does the whole park, would be a good place to go camping and get a few good rounds of disc golf in as well
-Can borrow discs from park employees
-Good layout, just follow the paths in the tall grass

Cons:

-Natural tees, weren't bad but concrete or rubber are much better
-Could lose a disc in the tall grass rough
-In the middle of nowhere
-Pay to play may be bad by some accounts- 28 dollars for south dakota state park season pass or daily 4 dollars per person or 6 dollars per vehicle gets you in to 12 disc golf courses around the state. Most of them are quite enjoyable.
-Bugs; mosquitoes, ticks, and bees

Other Thoughts:

This is a really fun and challenging course. I expected a relatively short course that was made by a non disc golfer. I think this course was made by a non disc golfer but they did a great job! It is pretty long and has good challenges. The pars are a little high, I entered pro par as 28 with hole 9 being a 4. When I came into the park I didn't know if it would be worth my four dollars but it was very much. This park is the middle of nowhere but if you're travelling to Pierre or on Highway 14 it is worth a stop.
