Easier Half of The Lakewood Park Duo! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 19, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The North 9 of the Lakewood courses starts beside the lake. The lake doesn't really come into play but is there as a nice backdrop. The course has these nice long, narrow concrete tee pads. The signage is excellent having a picture of the hole on the signs. The holes have multiple tee pads which not only are longer but sometimes just give you a different angle on the same hole. Some holes might have three listed distances, some two.

# 2 throws right over a picnic shelter. I liked # 4 throwing to a basket set in a small grove of trees. # 5 plays on a fairly narrow strip of land between the street and a parking lot.

# 7 is the Island Hole that everyone talks about. It's either 265-325' but plays across a park road to the basket on the cul-de-sac. And # 8 has a big tree in the center of the fairway forcing you to make a decision as to which route to take.

Cons:

Definitely some safety concerns on holes 5 and 7 playing close to parking and streets. You may have for a moving car before throwing.

Course is just recreational level. No major challenge involved.

Central Kansas wind blowing like hell!

Other Thoughts:

This is another of the nice pit stop courses on I-70 passing through Kansas. What makes this Salina Lakewood Park Duo stop especially tempting for us course baggers is the fact you can stop and play both Lakewood North & South and rack up two courses for the price of one 18. Nice and close to the freeway and an easy throw although the South 9 is no walk in the park.
