Pros:

Well maintained course, love playin this one after the congestion of the home course @ craighead across the river. My 2nd most frequently played, wish hometown was as well maintained.

Cons:

Lost my T-bird in the drink. :(

Other Thoughts:

Nice walk. Gotsta watch out for peddies!

This is my main home course. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 13, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I like that there is a mix of distance and technical. I enjoy the variability of the course with the alternate hole locations. The course is often a bit different when I go to play it. There is a beautiful old oak straddled by the 5th and 18th holes. It is an inspiring sight each time I take note of it.

Cons:

There is a great deal of semi-wilderness on the course including poison ivy and small and large thorny growth. The wind can make some of the holes deceptively hard if one is unprepared, and prdictably hard if they are prepared. The park is a busy one in nice weather, and must be shared with many other types of users, but that can be enjoyed if one is a people watcher.

Other Thoughts:

The last reviewer mentions the 10th. It is a long hole that plays longer as the fairway is in a bowl and the basket must be played uphill. The wind is often a factor on this hole as well - generally blowing right to left, but not until about 75-100 ft off the tee box. The parking lot on the left does fill up at times when little leaguers are playing, but should be avoided at all times as it is out-of-bounds by course rules. The second and third holes mentioned in an earlier review have been eliminated due to having been in a multi-use field. Two new holes have been added in their place at the front of the course, making the water hazard a factor on hole #3 now.

My alternate home course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 21, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Overall, course is well-designed. Most holes are clearly marked with signs and flow well from basket to next tee. They are also putting in some alternate basket locations on some holes that offer some unique plays. A LOT of risk-reward opportunities on this course.

Cons:

Disc-eating thickets, brambles, poison ivy, especially on # 5 - # 9 and # 11 - # 17. You will also likely hit some trees on those holes, so be ready (routes are there if you look, though). Some holes are not clearly marked as to progression to next hole (but I think that is being addressed in course improvements)

Other Thoughts:

Have had a buddy ace # 11, which you will appreciate once you see it! Mando on # 13, but it's not too difficult to make it. UPDATE: # 2 and # 3 used to be across the road from the rest of the course. They are not any more. The "old" # 1 is now # 3; the "new" # 1 plays away from the water, then # 2 plays back towards the ponds through some trees with a cleared out lane, then # 3 plays across the water, at which point you head to # 4.

Varied Mississsippi Course! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 11, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Latimer Lakes Course has a variety of holes, wide open grassy throws, wooded technical throws and some elevation to play with. Hole # 1 is a fairly long huck across the lake. The problem is that teepad is not quite lined up with where the basket is. I didn't like the risk/reward and decided to skip it. #s 2 & 3 are across the little park road before crossing back to the big, grassy field for # 4, a open 330' toss across a field. Then you head into the woods for some technical throws. # 10 opens up again before coming back into the trees for the final 8. The teepads are fine. The signs are fine but finding the next teepad is not always easy. I liked the combination of open versus technical woodsy holes. The park itself is very pretty. It's a challenge enough for most players. Not a good course for beginners or families.

Cons:

Some of the wooded holes were more luck than technical. There wasn't really a flight path to the basket. # 10 is a 570' hole with a parking lot on the left. I don't know if that lot ever fills up because if it does I'm sure some discs will hyser over into the cars. Holes 2 & 3 are kinda of easy to miss. # 17 is a bear of a hole. A long tunnel shot with deep rough on the left and the lake partially on the right. Some folks might call that hole a pro.

Other Thoughts:

I just didn't like the flow of the course starting with the first hole over water. I would like to see one of middle holes over water or maybe a finishing hole. I don't like starting my round by throwing over a lake, especially a fairly, long tough, angle shot. If I lived close to here I'd make the drive one exit north to the Central Park course.
