Pros:
With the look of a ball golf conversion, the 18 holes of disc golf at the Lebanon, Ky fairgrounds lie on mostly flat terrain, and attempt to mix in some shots along the woods and near the pond to increase interest. In competition, they obviously use the pvc-marked low areas as OB, and require lines of flight through some creative mandos. Hole distances range from 144 feet to 570, so there's something for a variety of arms. And the holes with defined lines (2, 9, 10 & 11) through the trees will appeal to the technical player.
They did install good quality signage, large, level, flush, concrete tees, and Discatcher baskets, and worked to add interest to some of the more wide open holes (3-6, 13, 14, 16 & 17) by adding mounds on 4 & 5, plus a 'backstop' on 4, to go along with the aforementioned OB areas. Holes 1, 7, 8, 12, 15 & 18 play into the edges of the woods, or adjacent to the large pond in the middle of the course. Signature holes to me were the admittedly gimmicky goalpost mando you have to shoot through on 12, and the gut-check green up by the pond on 15.
The more open holes on the course play a little long for casual to Recreational arms, but might not hold enough challenge to really interest Advanced and Open players unless tourney OB's are included, or the wind is blowing strong. So overall, the course seems geared to Intermediate level players.
Cons:
The baskets are falling into disrepair (rust, and wrecked a bit on 14 & 18), as is the goal mando on 12 (see pics). The flat terrain seems to hold water in low lying areas, and is likely the original reason for the pvc post-marked OB zones. In tournament conditions, I hope they'd 'rope' these off for newcomers, because I couldn't really tell, from ground level, where the lines of OB were supposed to be. There is a really muddy crossing on 11.
More a personal observation than a real knock on the course, if you like open more than technical, this might be your cup of tea. As a fan of elevation and woods courses, I had more fun down in Greensburg. So it's nice to have options in the region!
Other Thoughts:
I've added some pictures here so you can get a glimpse of what to expect. Lebanon is not likely to be a 'destination' course for most players, but is a reasonably good course to include for us course baggers!
