A Texas Legacy

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 30, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course Map
Great Tee signs
direction arrows on every basket and signs between holes
Decent size cement tee's

Cons:

It's a recreational course, it's not a championship course. Not that it is a negative, that actually should be a positive.
Those direction arrows are needed

Other Thoughts:

Got a message a couple of weeks ago from John Houck telling me about this new course and the grand opening. Of course I had to be there. 316 miles round trip to play 1 course.

This is kind of a retreat with cabins you can rent. They were looking to add a putt putt golf course when they said Disc Golf was very popular right now. So they hired the best to design the course.

The course is a recreational course, the whole family can enjoy it. The 2 holes over the pond even have tee boxes that avoid throwing over the water. For a place with families, this course is perfect. A vast majority of the holes are short (under 300ft) technical shots though the wooded area.

In typical Houck fashion, there are usually 2 or even 3 lines to the basket. It's a good mix and left and right shots.

There is one par 4 hole that is also a typical Houck hole. Mostly open for the first half, then a left turn though the woods with a left and right line to the basket. Trust me, you don't want to overthrow that first shot, land near the electric poll in the fairway to get a decent shot to the basket.

Talking with the owners, for this summer (2024) they plan on opening the course for the weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 6pm tee times. I do believe the cabins can be rented throughout the week and playing the course is included with the rental.

Would I play here again? YES, this is the type of course I love. Every hole can be birdied with the right shot. Unfortunately today I hit too many trees and shot a 56. (par is 55) I do believe that is the course record according to UDisc.

Oh, I want to brag about one more thing, this was Texas Course #700 for me. John actually had me throw the very first shot on the course. That was an honor I was not expecting.
