absolutely A+ gem with something for everyone 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 7, 2021 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- All kinds of different plays: some huge elevation, in and out of the trees, wide open bangers, short ace runs
- Absolutely beautiful when you get into the trees and along the creek. I feel like I'm in Jurassic Park
- Good signs, pretty easy to follow along the holes without getting lost

Cons:

It can get a little crowded nowadays during peak hours, but what're you gonna do with a course this nice

Other Thoughts:

Really lucky to have a course like this in NKY!

Fun and Challenging Gem of a Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 16, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- One of the coolest first holes around with a straight shot over the road and down a hill
- Great variety of mixed shots throughout the course, from open bombs, to wooded tunnels, to fast downhill shots and even some great forehand holes
- Great use of terrain with lots of shots both up and down large hills but not too smothering as there are quite a few flat or nearly flat shots mixed in
- Incredibly fun course to play a round at without feeling dead afterwards as even though it is 24 holes, it is not an incredibly long course with incredibly long and difficult shots (though there are some)
- Course is well kept all year round with other nice amenities provided at the park
- Nice baskets usually catch everything thrown at them, though there still is a chance for spit outs
- Unless you really really REALLY shank a shot (or land in one of the few water hazards) it is relatively difficult to lose a disc here, which is somewhat surprising considering how wooded a good portion of the course is
- Hole 24 is a fun massive bomb shot to finish out a very fun round
- Practice putting hole next to the first tee is nice, not only to warm up but just to do something if there are people teeing off in front of you

Cons:

- Hole 15, the recently repaired hole, is made-up of all larger gravel/stones which will eat softer plastic disc. It also causes awkward footing on some shots and putting. I'm glad it's finally back up and running but hopefully the rocks settle and they find some way to cover the rocks so that they don't chew up discs
- Difficulty ramps up a lot on holes 14-17 compared to the rest of the course. While many people will enjoy this, I would much prefer these holes to not be this difficult and punishing given how laid back the rest of the course is. Even if one or two of these holes remain difficult I would enjoy it more (especially hole 14 as it is incredibly fun to me despite the difficulty)
- Due to how water is drained, holes 16 and 17 almost always have very wet and muddy sections on a part of the fairway, which can be quite annoying if your disc lands in it or if you inadvertently step in it
- Some tees are cracked/missing pieces/small, but most are still in good shape
- Somewhat out of the way, though this is a really minor con especially considering how easy it is to actually get there. It just is a small drive from the expressway

Other Thoughts:

Lincoln Ridge is by far my favorite course I've played at thus far. It's a great course for all skill levels as beginners can learn all different types of shots (or just have fun) and everyone else can shoot to hit birdies and even eagles on some holes (or again just have fun). As can be seen in the rest of this review, the main word to describe this course is "fun." It has such a good mix of a variety of shots while still walking the fine line of being enjoyable for all skill levels. If you want to play a difficult course that will tire you out and possibly even frustrate you, this is not the place. If you want to have a lot of fun playing disc golf for a few hours, however, this is definitely where you should go. My biggest complaint stems from holes 15, 16, and 17 which are very tight, punishing shots and can be frustrating, especially if you get a bad tree kick and have to climb down to the creek, though I understand some people will still enjoy this. To me though, these holes seem somewhat out of place and awkwardly crammed in on this stellar, incredibly well thought out course. From the first hole to the last, you'll find a multitude of very fun, unique shots for this area. This is a must play for this area if you love disc golf. Even if you're just getting into it, it provides an incredibly fun time!

Overall, while holes 15, 16, and 17 drag the rating down just a little bit, but this is definitely a course for everyone, from the hardcore disc golf lovers to ones just getting into the sport. I cannot recommend making a small day trip to Lincoln Ridge enough, especially for those within an hour of it. To me, you will not find a more fun course in Cincinnati!

Idlewild's little brother 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 4, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is set up in a beautiful park that keeps the disc golf separate from any other activities (with the exception of the road coming into play on a couple). The course consists of 24 holes. The baskets here are chainstars that are all in pretty decent shape and catch just fine. Concrete tee pads on every hole with a few having dual pads. These are all level, decent sized and grip nicely. There is a fantastic mix of left, right and straight shots required here. The course is a solid mix of mostly open to mostly wooded with plenty of combinations of both throughout. There is also tons of elevation changes on this course that are used to perfection. Plenty of tough uphill shots, downhill bombs and quite a few playing along side slopes with the potential for roll aways aplenty. The tee signs here have all the pertinent information on them. The hole #, a basic hole layout map, par, distance and any OB designated on them. The course is permanent and free to play, which is always awesome to see. The flow of the course is pretty easy to follow. There is a map on this site that is accurate as well if you happen to get turned around. The course was in fantastic shape when we played it. There are also multiple benches throughout the course which are much appreciated after so many hills.

Cons:

Not too much for cons here. The course can seem to get pretty busy since it's the best course in the area for casual players (Idlewild's not casual). The rough in certain areas can get pretty thick and sharp. Just be aware of where you threw and you'll be fine though. A few of the tee pads are in rough shape presumably due to some erosion issues. There's not too much that can be done about this, but a few are showing some heavy wear. Also this is not the most cart friendly of courses. It can be done, but it will take some work.

Other Thoughts:

If you're anywhere near here this is definitely worth a visit. This is still a challenging course but not nearly to the extent of Idlewild. With that being said I enjoyed this course more than Idlewild. Probably because it didn't beat me down as hard as big brother did. But if you're a newer or more casual player this is the place to play. This is just a really well designed, fun to play course. Definitely worth a visit if you're anywhere nearby. One of the most fun courses I've played to date.

Top Tier Fun 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 21, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is my favorite course of all-time. Having grown up in the area and playing this course many times, it has the perfect mix of hard/easy holes, long/short holes, and open/wooded holes. It is accessible yet challenging to beginners, rewarding for experienced players, and fun for all.

The teepads are sized appropriately, and in great shape throughout. The signs are accurate and show the hole locations, although they could use some updating on some holes. There are garbage cans throughout the course, and some holes have benches at the tees.

The elevation is used beautifully. The park is hilly and the course offers many types of throws. There are several downhill bombs that offer beautiful ace opportunities, and the holes going uphill are appropriately difficult.

The woods are also used fantastically. The lines through the woods are well-defined and not too difficult to follow, yet also not too easy to hit. There is a solid mix between the open holes and the wooded holes, keeping the player on their toes. The lines also force the thrower to use both hyzers and anhyzers, or alternately both forehand and backhand throws, in order to succeed.

This course is FUN. It is not overly difficult, yet provides enough challenges to make it hard. It offers some easy ace runs, and also some longer ace runs for the heavy throwers. It is everything a semi-professional disc golf course wants to be, and it does a fantastic job at it.

Cons:

The creek holes have suffered some damage due to mudslides from the rainy winter. At the moment, repair work has not started; be careful playing these holes, as the teepad has suffered some damage and some chunks of the fairway have fallen into the creek.

When it is muddy, this course can be difficult to play, especially in the wooded holes on the second half of the course. Keep that in mind while scaling down the sheer hills on the "suicide holes."

This course gets quite busy after work and on weekends. This shows it is a top-tier course, but can also lead to some long waits if the group in front of you is either large or slow.

Other Thoughts:

Although Idlewild is the most professional and "best" course in the area, Lincoln Ridge is my preferred and favorite course to play. It is not overly long or difficult and provides enough challenges to make any player enjoy the course. Even beginners will find enjoyment here, although it is probably better to gain a bit of experience before giving all 24 holes here a try.

All in all, every time I'm back in my hometown, I make a trip out to Lincoln Ridge to play!

Take the time to play this course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 21, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course received the highest rating I've posted due to it's scenery, layout, mix of hole types and overall experience. It's just that good. It's clean, it's maintained and it doesn't feel crowded even though there were a lot of golfers out when I played. Wide open downhill holes that you can bomb and tight tunnels to navigate mean you will utilize all of your skills. The terrain is hilly which means it is a workout but it's worth it. The way the elevation changes were incorporated into the course is awesome. This is what a course should be. If I lived closer to this course I may never play anywhere where else!

Cons:

The only con that I can think of is that the last couple of holes kind of pale in comparison to the first group. That's not much of a negative though- they aren't pass-by holes by any means. But a 360 foot downhill hole that is open on the right and wooded on the left that gives you an opportunity for a spectacular ace (my drive wound up UNDER the basket) overshadows them.

Other Thoughts:

I left this course a couple strokes over par but felt good about the round. I was put in a good mood when I left as the course was so much fun! Tired but happy. Great place to go; make it a priority.

Loved It! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 29, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Great mix of hole types from open fairways to tightly wooded holes, and all sorts of elevation changes
-Playable for beginners, but experts won't be bored. This is a fair course and not one that punishes you

Cons:

-The last few holes drag a bit, and pale in comparison to the earlier ones
-Signage was good, but it still could get a little confusing as far as pin placement

Other Thoughts:

I'm still amazed at the variety of holes this course offers. To have some very open shots paired with such tightly wooded holes is still mind boggling. It feels like you are almost in two completely different settings as you move from rolling hills of green to dense forest along streams.

Just get here and throw! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 22, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Where to begin!

• This course seemingly has it all:

To get amenities out of the way, the course has no shortage of benches and trash bins, which definitely helped lend to the very well-kept nature of the course.
The upkeep/maintenance here seemed definitely top notch, which is a huge plus.

- 24 Holes, equipped with Chainstar baskets, all holding up very well. The use of elevation and variety of terrain here is top notch in my opinion. There are multiple pin positions for some holes, allowing for a nice mix.

- An absolute great mix of open and wooded holes. You will need to be able to bring your A-Game in terms of longer drives for some holes, and the ability to throw tight lines in the wooded areas. With all that mind, with the varying pin position, putting and the strategy you use will be crucial, as huge rollaways are possible if not careful. Water also comes into play in a few spots, presenting some chances at risk/reward. You will be using all the shots in your arsenal, and having a blast doing it.

- Each hole has concrete pads, with a few having more than one tee - which offers different looks at the basket in terms of lower/higher positions. (I thought this was a neat feature)

- Signage for the teepads were pretty solid, explained par, distance and hole number.

• Lincoln Ridge is located within a ~30 Minute drive from Idlewild, another must play course in Kentucky.

Cons:

- Some 'fairways' are relatively close to others, which could possibly lead to shanked drives crossing over into other holes, especially with the first few holes, which can lead to safety concerns (Still not enough to really take away from the overall course rating, just exercise caution)

- In terms of navigation, we could have used a few more pointers in the right direction for the next tee. While we were never lost, routing was a bit off in a few spots. (Especially on some of the longer transitions)

- Some rough contains poison Ivy, so be careful if you're wandering off the fairway for discs.

Other Thoughts:

It is so easy for me to say that Lincoln Ridge is easily in my 'Top 5 courses played' list - and I would give anything for it to be my home course. Other courses could take a page from Lincoln Ridge's book, as it was just that much fun. It is hard to believe that this course is over 30+ years old, and still offers so much. I almost listed the amount of traffic at this course under the 'Con' section, but really that traffic is just attributed to how amazing this place truly is.

Just crazy fun! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Lincoln Ridge is a 24 hole course set in Independence, KY, not too far from Idlewild.

Chainstar baskets, all in good repair, and caught well. Some really nice pin positions in dangerous positions. Death putts abound if you're overly aggressive. Lots of risk/reward around the greens here. Some holes have multiple pin positions.

Nice concrete tee pads, which were in good repair. Some holes have multiple tees, which were explained to us more as upper/lower than long/short. Plenty long, grippy and workable.

This is just fantastic golf. There's holes here that I dream about going back to play. Want to start with a nice downhill throw? Check. Want to end with a big downhill bomber? Yep, they've got that, too. You like short, technical ace runs? You're in luck. How about some long, tight, wooded hucks? Oh yeah. Throw in some open holes, and you've pretty much checked every throw on the shot list.

Great rolling elevation in play over darn near the whole course. Hole 14 is the hole I always think back to. Almost straight downhill, not long, with a huge ravine behind the basket. Too awesome.

Water in play on a few holes. Nothing too crazy bad, but if you go in the water on 22, you're probably out of luck.

Lots of trash cans and benches, which is a nice touch.

Decent tee signs, with all the info you need.

Cons:

There's not much to pick at here. Maybe it could use more pin positions and extra tee pads on some holes.

Navigation can get a little wonky, especially in the earlier holes. It's pretty easy to get turned around. A few next tee signs would go a long way, especially when you need to cross a large parking lot to find a tee.

This place is busy, for good reason. Expect backups on the weekends.

Other Thoughts:

This place is just plain fun. It's what disc golf is supposed to feel like. You'll throw damn near every disc you can carry. You'll be challenged. If I lived close, this would be the place I'd play at all the damn time, because it's just that good.

If you're in the area and don't play here, you're a moron. Just get out there and frolf, brau. You won't regret it.

is there a downside? 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 25, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

24 holes of brilliant disc golf, set in one of the most manicured parks that I have ever set foot in. I'm going to struggle to find a downside, but I'll nitpick and get there.

Baskets - Some of my favorite baskets on earth. I don't know why I love these Chainstars so much. I don't feel like I ever get spit outs on these things. the ones at Lincoln Ridge are no different.
I think that there are two placements for each basket as well. I am not sure, as I don't remember every hole off of the top of my head, but at least most do,.

Tee pads - every tee pad is level and beautifully done. Most of the are manicured with mulch and the occasional flower or two. All of the concrete is uncracked and not broken or rolling. I was surprised at how well all of these were done. Even the ones in the woods.

Shot types- I can't think of something that Lincoln Ridge does not have. Giant, huge, hyzer bombs. Short, sweeping anny shots. Roll away greens. Enormous putter shots from 350 feet away. pinpoint accuracy tunnel shots. It really is a course that is going to make you a better golfer for having played it.

the park - unmatched in how nice it is. the grass was golf course manicured in most places. no weeds in the fairways, no trash on the ground and no unpleasant graffiti or vandalism. what a great place to be and to be playing disc golf.

signs - every tee pad has a great sign that shows you precisely where you are going. all of them are clear and leave the golfer with no questions about the shot.

x factors - this is where Lincoln Ridge shines. There is a bench and a trash can on 90% of the holes out there,. There are multiple tee pads on a couple of the holes. There are so many amazing shots that I don't know if there is a signature hole. Maybe hole 24 with the ENORMOUS downhill shot from the road.
The elevation changes are second to none.
And most of all, it's just a beautiful course. It really is nice to just sit and look at most of the course.
Oh, and it really is the most fun I have had playing disc golf in a very long time. So much fun.

Cons:

Nit picking here, but the place could have used a "next tee" sign in a couple of places. I wasn't sure where to go after 21 for a minute, but we got it figured out.

it was SUPER crowded when we played there. is that a con though? Again, nitpicking. But I suppose this would make your experience different.

Other Thoughts:

Just go play this place. It's fun and there aren't many things to find wrong here.
Honestly, I can't imagine someone not having a great time at Lincoln ridge.

You have elevation, great shots that require expert shaping as well as distance, well guarded greens and a great pucker factor on your greens. You may not have par fours but you're the sweetest par three course in the world. Half of your holes I expect a two and half I'm happy as heck with a four sometimes. Tons of Fun!!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 16, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is located in a gorgeous public park.
There is plenty of parking very near a practice basket and the first tee.
The park and the disc golf course are VERY well maintained. (short grass, no downed limbs and paths were neat).
The course strikes a very good balance of punishing poor shots while allowing well played shots to be rewarded with birdies or better.
One of my favorite aspects of this course is the number of times that the course allows you to bomb it off the tee.
Change in elevation is also a "Pro" on this course. There are holes that are listed that played as much as 100 ft short or longer than the scorecard distance due to elevation change.
We played every hole as a par 3 and hole 5-6 and 14-16 will challenge most disc golfers to make par.
After thinking about it, I played every disc in my bag during the round. That is always a PRO. The course while very open in some spots will also require some VERY precise shots on others. You will have to work the disc in both directions.
The course is VERY easy to follow. It was my first time playing it, and I didn't have any navigation problems. Signs were nice and accurate view of the holes.
I won't go into detail of each hole, that has been done very accurately by other reviews. All I will add is that each hole seemed very unique.
The 'FUN FACTOR" of this course is EXTREMELY high!

Cons:

The only problem that I had with the course was the traction. When we played the course, it had rained the day before. Several of the tee boxes were very slick. There are also a couple of hills on the course that caused a lot of problems getting up and down due to being very slick.

Other Thoughts:

I had tried to play this course 3 months ago, and didn't get the chance because of another event going on in the park. My persistence paid off this time. This is a great place to play disc golf. The scenery is awesome and the variety and challenge provide a great experience. Lincoln Ridge and Idlewild are a must play for anyone visiting this area. I would love to have a course like Lincoln Ridge in my city.

Great Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 1, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is my personal favorite. It is a 24 hole course that is well taken care of. This course has shots that include downhill, uphill, dog leg left, dog leg right, and near water. I am not an expert player by any means, so this course is challenging to all levels of players. The park itself is very clean and up kept. I organize my company's picnic here every year because of its quality and activities that it provides.

Cons:

The only con that I see that this course has is when walking from hole 14 to 15. The steps could be repaired or replaced. It is a very steep area and can bed dangerous when wet.

Other Thoughts:

I like how on holes 1, 10, and 13 they change the placement of the baskets. I wish they would change the placement of other pins to give more of a variety. This course is probably the closes to perfect that I have been to.

High Fun Factor at Lincoln Ridge 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 24, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Located in a family-friendly park that has nice bathrooms, plenty of parking space, multiple playgrounds, soccer and baseball fields, multiple pavilions, and of course, disc golf. Lincoln Ridge is easy to get to off of I-71 and is located near a very nice golf course and neighborhood. It truly is in one of the most picturesque park settings I've played in and is very scenic in the woods and out in the open.
-Tee signs are in good shape, and tell you the pars, hole numbers, and lengths (except for 18 which is a hand-written tee sign). There are multiple tees on some of the holes, and 2-3 pin positions on every hole. The tees are long and wide concrete pads, while the baskets are Chainstar, have numbers on most of them, and are in good shape.
-This course is very well maintained and the grass is low on all the fairways. Also, the holes in the holes would normally be pretty rough, but there has been obvious steps to reduce this. It looks like the trees are often trimmed and the weed are often whacked, very much appreciated.
-Very friendly and helpful locals who volunteered to show me around the course and even helped me look for a lost disc without me asking.
-Only 20 minutes from Idlewild and 30 from Cincy courses

-Great variety of hole types and shots! It is split almost perfectly in three ways for hyzer, anhyzer, and straight shots and about 50/50 for wooded and more open shots. Use of elevation is one of the greatest aspects of this course and many holes (1, 2, 7, 14, 18, 20, and 24) offer pretty rapid elevation changes. Other holes play on slopes (3, 4, 5, 15, 16, 19, and 21). Also, this course allows you to bomb a few holes (1, 2, 11, 12, 13, 21, and 24) as well as play some very tight, technical shots (5-8 and 16-20). This course flowed very well as far as constantly changing from open to wooded and so on, not causing shots to seem repetitive and keeping the fun factor high. Water also comes into play on many of the holes, with a stream on the right of a steep slope from 14-16 and two separate ponds from 21-24.
-This is a great course to bring a beginner to, as there are multiple open shots, but they would get to see the technical side of the sport with the many wooded shots, and the fact that the water holes are fun but not very risky.

Cons:

While Lincoln Ridge offers great variety and very fun, unique holes, there are certain aspects that hurt the course's overall rating a little bit.
-Navigation is a little rough at times, as some of the holes run back and forth to each other (I'm thinking of 11-13, 19-20 here). What makes it more difficult is that a few of the numbers on the baskets are worn off, so it makes it harder to figure out which basket belongs to which hole a few times. It would be helpful if there were more next tee signs and if the tee signs themselves pointed you in the right direction. It also got confusing after 21, where you have to cross the road and play the two holes around the smaller pond. I played 24 after 21because they are so close. A sign pointing across the road would also be helpful here.
-This course is over 30 years old, so a bunch of the tees are cracked (a bunch still being less than half though).
-Hole 2 plays dangerously close to the road.
-It was very crowded when I was there on a Tuesday evening. This bothered me because some of the holes plays close together, so discs were flying into my hole's fairway at times.

Other Thoughts:

Lincoln Ridge truly has a high fun factor, with great variety of hole types, great use of elevation, and very scenic holes. While there weren't any throw-away holes here, some were pretty plain, even 1 or 2 in the woods. However, the best ones were unique, technical, and fun enough to give this course a 4.5 rating. My favorites were:

1- Great open downhill shot with a pin position in a tight corner of the woods
6- Very fun hyper then anhyzer that plays through a tight line in the woods, plays slightly uphill and has a tough pin position behind a few trees
7- Very fun tight downhill shot with a mango through 2 specific trees
13- A beautiful straight then anhyzer shot with the basket on a slope
14- Possibly my favorite hole on the course, extreme downhill shot that's goes left forces you to hyzer throughout a tight line of trees and then fade back to the right. Death putt scenario with the pin on a steep slope and the creek behind it.
20- Anny through a very tight line between trees. Plays downhill then uphill to the pin
24- Great way to end the course with a long downhill hyzer shot. Very picturesque shot

Took me 1 1/2 hours to play.

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 22, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Lincoln Ridge starts off in an unassuming manner. Park-style open grassy expanse playing slightly downhill to a pin just tucked into the edge of a small patch of woods. While the front nine does end up bringing some technical wooded golf into play, the real fun doesn't start until the back nine.
- Great use of elevation. #'s 14, 15, and 16 play down, and then along a pretty massive drop off down into a stream. Those agile enough to get down to the stream are faced with quite daunting shots back up. Where elevation is not quite as massive, it still comes into play very nicely and is used to its utmost effect.
- Water hazards. They're all fair; there aren't any water carries to worry about, but the risk of getting wet on errant shots is very very real. Again, #'s 14, 15 and 16 are the standout holes in this regard.
- Good amenities. Signage, next tee markers, tee pads, and baskets are all in fine shape. Dual tees on #'s 10, 16, 19, and 21 ease the difficulty for beginners while keeping difficult shots in place for more experienced ones.
- Mandos used to good effect. #16's green is protected by a tricky mando, and #8 has a double mando (if I remember correctly) forcing a tight run at the basket while taking away an easy hyzer route.

Cons:

- The biggest drawback to Lincoln Ridge is the proximity of some holes to others. While nothing really overlaps, per se, there are definitely lots of opportunities for errant drives to land on other holes. The cluster of holes on the front nine (e.g., #'s 1, 2, and 9) is definitely the worst part of the design from a safety and course flow standpoint.
- The ridge holes definitely will not be easily traversed by those with mobility issues. I'm a fairly young, fit, mobile adult male used to adventure golf and still thought I was gonna bust my ass getting to the bottom.

Other Thoughts:

- While not an objective criteria of course review, the fun factor at Lincoln Ridge is off the charts. Lesser players (such as myself) can still shoot decent rounds while being challenged throughout. More advanced players can certainly find lots of trouble if not totally on their game. The course does an outstanding design of being accessible to newer players while catering to those that have been around the block. Nothing gets crazy difficult, but there definitely aren't any holes you can relax on, either. A perfect warm-up course prior to Idlewild, but able to stand tall on its own merit fo' sho'.
- During my round, an animal control officer was sitting in the lot waiting to nab people for having their dog off leash. Beware if you choose to let your pet run free.

BEAUTIFUL COURSE! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 25, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Maintenance - This place was in great shape.

Shot Variety - Everything from Water, Elevation, distance
Tee Signs/Teepads - I think a few of the teesigns were missing, but have cement Teepads.

Beauty - The holes in the back 14-16 are some of the best looking wholes with the creek behind it (although can be dangerous for some)

Cons:

Some of the holes in the back could be fairly dangerous from the creek.

the lack of 500+ holes could be a con for some however not for me.

Other Thoughts:

Honestly, This makes my top 3 courses. It's very fun, and a great course to give you some pride without being too easy.

I honestly think the only reason I don't give this a 5 is because of how close it is to Idlewild. Personally I enjoy this course more than Idlewild, but Idlewild is the top course in over all golf.

Hole 15 is one of the best looking holes I have seen(late spring when I saw it)

I played with people who showed me around, so I noticed some people saying it was hard to find your way around, but I didn't notice that at all.

Very Close to Idlewild, it seems these two are a must play combo.

One of the most fun courses in D. Golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 23, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Fun factor five . A blast for the pro...not too scary and even fun for a beginner .

Beautiful park, well maintained, Interesting topography woods and creek that is well utilized.
Nice pads, Chainstar baskets.
Easy to follow for the most part intuitive. 5 and 6 aren't. There should be a simple arrow or sign pointing to them. Without a map or noticing other golfers head that way you simply miss those holes.

Nice mix of open holes and woods holes which all can be dueced by an advanced player. However ample opportunities present themselves for you to go astray and pay a fee in strokes and energy.
The back nine has many great and challengIng holes starting with # 14. A short downhill shot through the woods with a tough pin placement to stick a shot. Love this hole.

One of my very favorite courses and in my opinion one of the best in the known universe. A must play if you are in the area. (Idlewild is about 30min away as well)

Cons:

Can't really think of many. I suppose that if it is really wet out it could be a bit muddy on some of the woods holes.

There is a fair amount of walking and the last 5 holes bring you up a fairly good sized hill so if you are not healthy or if you are impaired physically this may wear you out a bit. (but I like the hills).

This course is fairly popular in the area so sometimes there can be lots of other golfers out. But, thats the way it can be at the areas most fun course...

Other Thoughts:

Love this course!
I'm lucky enough to know two of the designers. The late Doug Aulick and also DGhall of famer Fred Salaz. Two very fine men who helped grow this sport we love. I remember when Doug startled me on hole 16 by tomahawking over the trees quite unexpectedly, parking his disc 5' from the pin. He used many "unorthodox" throws that taught me to see the game differently.
I can't say enough good things about Fred Salaz. He has given so much to the disc golf community and besides that he is a kind decent man.

In my personal rating of a course I include a Fun factor score.
That feeling of Wow cool! That you get at the best holes the first time you play them are some of the ultimate golf moments and hard to communicate in a course description.

When you stand in the box on a well conceived scenic hole and smile thats what I mean. Some holes shine.
Several do here.

Great job by the park in caring for it.
More courses should be like this one.

On a good day a good golfer can shoot a 40 ( I've seen a 37 on 18h ) but could also shoot just a 52 if you are off a bit. I have witnessed players low scores on the front nine go brutally south on the back nine many, many a time...

I'm happy to say I have played this course hundreds of times.

One of my favorite disc moments was on hole One in the early morning fog during the final ace fund round of the year when I watched my bright orange red Roc Fly in a smooth sweet line to the basket and hit and stick winning me 250 and that feeling I love when I make the throw I am trying to do... you all know what I mean...

Great job boys on bringing us this great course.

Really good course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 17, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Lincoln Ridge is a nice park with a good course. It has all the shots, short and long, left and right, wooded and open, up and down. It also required a less spoken trait which is touch. On hole 14 if you're long you're done and even if your short you better not let it get on it's side. It has all the maintenance right, good teepads, good signs, good baskets, practice baskets, personally i found the teepads pretty easily and there were some people saying that was a problem. This was an all around great course.

Cons:

There is just something that separates really good courses from great courses and this just didn't quite make it there. I played Idlewild the same day I played here and there was just something about it that I can't tell that made Idlewild better, that's why I couldn't give this a 5.

Other Thoughts:

Lincoln Ridge Park was a great course that I really wish wasn't 4 hours away. I've played it twice and still don't feel like I've gotten it's experience in full, I think the more I play it the better it will get. (it felt better the 2nd time) I would wait and play it again before reviewing to get the full experience but I doubt I'll ever get the chance to play there again. But if I'm ever back in Northern KY I know where I'll be heading.

Everything I expected 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 27, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Great variety of shots. Some long, some short, uphill, downhill, tunnels, open bombers, you name it.
-Approachable for newbies, and a challenge for experienced players. I played for the first time with my young inexperienced cousin, and my brother of similar experience as myself (10+ years). We all had a great time.
-Multiple static pin placements are great. Play to one basket, go back to the tee (as long as it's open, of course) and play to the other!
-Makes excellent use of the land. The holes spread out all around, and make use of the hills and creek to give some wonderful views from the tees.
-Beautiful scenery all the way from Turkeyfoot Rd. to the 24th basket. Even better in the fall.

Cons:

-Lack of "next tee" signs make first time navigation a bit tricky without a guide. Luckily, the course map in the media files on an iPad solved that.
-One hole was missing a tee sign.
-24 holes? Why not 36!

Other Thoughts:

Wonderful course. From the first tee off to the final putt, I had a smile on my face. The creek holes were picturesque, even when I managed to hit a tree and wound up in said creek. Very playable for all skill levels. Great shots are rewarded, and short shots are usually in 'ok' shape. Get off the path, and you'll be forced to pull off small miracles to make par. Loved every minute, will return.
